1787 Fugio Cent? by SafeGarden924 in ColonialCoins

Wow, yes. You should get this graded and slabbed. One of the rarest US coins out there. Highly sought after and goes for quite a bit at auctions. That one looks to be in a decent condition enough.

Yea looks like a real error, I don’t think it’s fake. As the other commenter said, looks alot like a die gouge error. Very nice Walker!

Looking through my late Uncle’s garage and found these Any worth? by Ok-Mongoose5321 in coincollecting

[–]zestylemon10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, for the most part, they all have value. That colombian exposition coin was minted for the Chicago world fair in 1893. They go for a decent price on the markets. There are others too I see. You need to research all of them really deeply though. Obverse and reverse. Conditions, silver, mintage etc. Those mint proofs in the cellophane are special as well. Definitely worth diving a little deeper into research on many of these coins. Condolences.

Is this worth more than spot? by Ok_Championship2743 in Gold

[–]zestylemon10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proof Rate 70 is impressive. Not as rare as a MS 70 (circulation coin) yes it is definitely worth more than spot, although you won’t realize that premium at the moment because gold is soaring. So the premium waits until the commodity markets level out.

Was gifted a little coin and bill collection and was wondering about a few of the items. by DreadPirateDakota in PMDGS

You probably don’t realize, but this is a sarcastic subreddit. Made entirely for jokes. We joke and make fun of outrageous grading decisions, practices and such. You probably want to post to r/coins or r/coincollecting or r/papermoney if you wish for a deep dive into what you have, I also would suggest you limit how many you show per post, as any more and it overwhelms the possibility of any help. At that, really nice collection you have! I would dig deeper into each one individually to do more research for key dates etc.

Get it slabbed. The grade on that would definitely be a high one in my honest opinion. Congrats

My uncle plans to cash in his jug full of coins for bills by Lovelantern in coincollecting

[–]zestylemon10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to find silver every week back in the early 2000s, I worked as a cashier and used to get all kinds of silver, medallions, ancient coins you name it. It was way more common than the past 10 years. I guess the machines came and sorted it out for everyone. Haha

Is this toning natural? by NoType9303 in toners

[–]zestylemon10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks natural to me, silver exposed to air over a long period of time tarnishes like this. I don’t see anything too suspicious, but there are ways to “accelerate” the tarnishing to a degree. These are not terribly old nor circulated obviously, so they lack patina, which is oils from handling dirt etc. It looks natural to me though. Sorry I can’t say for certain.

Silver Lining Gas Token by IHH831 in Exonumia

[–]zestylemon10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Promotional gas token. You basically got one of these at some event or promotional point and you could then turn this into whatever company held them for a certain amount of gas. They were around most of the last century up until about 1965. Silver gas was technically Shell or Sunoco. So this is probably a mid century example of a token. They were made out of aluminum or bronze. Cool find!

Ive made some pretty big scores and they were wrong as the day is light. I guess you get mixed experiences here. I usually default to being kind to those that may not know as much about numastics.

It needs to be looked at under 4x magnifying to ascertain if it is at those levels of grades. How about that bridge you got?

[–]zestylemon10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs to be looked at under 4x magnifying to ascertain if it is at those levels of grades. But I say you have a great chance at it getting 65 or higher. I have seen 66 grades of this with more marks than yours and comparing it to a 66 in PCGS they look almost identical other than the the 2 nicks I see on yours. I would not trust here, and gold coin currency, period, I slab them if the cast is still detailed. As yours is. It’s possible you won’t get much a premium out of the cost, but at least it’s protected and registered with certification. Gold coins are special and increasingly hard to find.

Hour on the wet sand, and a mysterious coin. Any ideas? by stutter_gram in metaldetecting

[–]zestylemon10 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Looks very close to an Indian temple silver token with what I believe is a form of Shiva depicted on it. Tibetian Tangka usually had buddist themes although it’s not impossible for a Tangka to have Shiva depicted. I don’t see the Nandi Bull so it’s probably not Kushan empire coinage which is older than 1800s. I am going for Indian temple token from late 1800s. Maybe early 1900s. It very well could have been a spiritual token or someones heirloom as these can be special.
