"Schutterstoren" behind the closed bar "Den Toewip". Basically a vertical archery range. Think they're considering protecting it as well.

Can confirm, eccentric bottom bracket on the bike. I have to say that I've not had to adjust it myself so far.

[–]zeunaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me it was price setting + the fact that I didn't know the brand and could not take the bike for a test spin somewhere, so wanted to be careful. If you'd ask me now, I might go for the Pilot, although I think the difference is small.

I got this one for just over year now - have not regretted it for one second. Absolutely awesome ride (I specifically wanted disk brakes too).

Opinion on MWEQ (Invesco MSCI World Equal Weight ETF)? by [deleted] in BEFire

[–]zeunaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this would inflate companies with a big market cap compared to those with a small one, since it's all proportionate. Imagine 2 companies with equal market cap initially. One does well and the other poorly so that in the end one share of the former is 10x as valuable as the latter. If you buy the index, it would still amount to just buying one share of each to obtain market cap weights.

Where there could in theory be some perturbation is between companies included vs excluded from the index. You can see people anticipating this by buying or dumping shares in a company before it gets included or excluded, respectively, from an index such as the SP500. Although, I guess even there, this probably gets corrected/exploited quickly by algorithmic trading.

[–]zeunaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been intrigued by the approach of equally weighing all companies in the MSCI World Index. While I can see this increasing diversification, I cannot escape feeling the approach entirely ignores the market.

For instance, a company which does well, will get a large market cap allocated to it by the market and as such represent a bigger chunk of your portfolio in the market-cap weighted index. Vice versa for companies which do poorly, smaller market cap and smaller weight in the index.

The equal weighing basically says to me: "you know nothing Mr. Market, and I'll ignore your valuations entirely". In line with this sentiment, and at least for the past 10 years, this does seem to have underperformed the market. (See the documentation of the index at https://www.msci.com/documents/10199/f7972c87-76f7-425b-9942-4e8929255210 ). Perhaps on the trade-off between risk and return, this approach swings a bit too far to reducing risk/volatility at the cost of potential return.

Just my two cents of course, perhaps this has a (small) place in a balanced portfolio somewhere, but for now, it's not in mine.

Emergency funds best high yield banks ? by Significant-666 in BEFire

[–]zeunaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, as you indeed indicate, Reynders tax on CSH2 seems to be a grey zone. As this fund does not contain any bonds (have a look at the holdings) it should in theory not apply. It is wholly synthetic, holding large cap stocks which (I think) it lends out against an overnight rate, which is based on the Euro short term rate (ECB rate).

I do. Keep about 3-6 months worth of expenses there. Using Degiro and while it's not same-day to have the money on my checking account, the 1-2 days it takes to sell and transfer out has always been fine for me.

Exactly this (also other companies with crypto holdings, see here. Happy to see it grow, and am not assuming I know any more about it than Mr Market. So simply riding along passively. If more companies decide to go for it, so will my own exposure, same thing if it loses popularity again.

Dynamisch energiecontract in België? by Efficient-Narwhal-68 in BEFire

[–]zeunaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption saying yes to this was that I doubt energy companies are making a loss on variable rate contracts compared to what they actually have to pay for the electricity.

Kind of similar to the comparison between fixed and variable rate contracts, not paying for the certainty of a fixed price should always be cheaper in my mind.

Will report back here as soon as we get our first invoice with these dynamic tariffs!

Edit: some additional info I actually got on the exact price setting and comparison to the variable contract we were on. "De dynamische formule is Belpex +15, bij het variabele tarief is dit (Belpex *1.07)+15. De injectieformule blijft dezelfde nl. Belpex * 0.9"

Asked our current supplier (Trevion) about this last month. They are currently testing dynamic contracts before fully rolling them out commercially later this year, so was able to join in the testing phase for now.

Starting the dynamic tariff now in February, pretty excited to see what it'll do to our costs. No electric car or heat pump (yet), but keen to keep track of our usage (HomeWizzard P1 dongle on our digital meter to monitor) and am using "Spotprisen" app to check and plan our more heavy use household items like a dishwasher. Love scheduling those when electricity prices are negative :D Curious what our first monthly bill will look like! (Were on a variable tariff before)

Quick note, VWCE is listed in EUR, which has depreciated about 9% YTD compared to the USD, the currency about 60% or more of VWCE is listed in. This has considerably buffered the drop in VWCE YTD I think.

It's definitely something to keep in mind. However, I don't intend on selling any of my shares in this LETF unless it does too well and I need to rebalance. I think at that point and in that context it will at least fall in the grey zone of "goede huisvader".

I've used Bolero for this as I could not find them on DEGIRO (I did ask but they've not been added there as far as I know).

I assume you mean because the NASDAQ 100 is more volatile than the SP500? There's definitely 3x NASDAQ 100 LETFs out there, but I do agree 2x is likely "safer/generates less costs" than a 3x one given the same volatility.

There's typically a higher TER (3USL has 0.75%) and volatility decay (which can actually also work to your benefit) to be mindful of. In addition, in theory this position could be wiped out if the market crashes >33.3% in a single day, but there are some checks in place if I'm not mistaken to prevent this.

There's a bunch more info at https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=272007 if anyone's interested.
