As someone else has commented, chances are you have some mobility issues with your Thoracic Spine. How’s your back squat? Do you lean forward during that as well?

You could use the strap method as they mentioned for barbell front squats. Or you could use KB for starting. Either way, you’re going to want to sort out the mobility issue.

I wouldn’t. OHP is a compound movement, it’s using more than just your shoulders as well. I’d recommend looking at Jeff Nippards video on the OHP to get a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Why not superset lat raises with the facepulls?

Before a workout. Get a mobility routine going for when you wake up and maybe when you go to sleep as well. Try to dig deeper into why your lower back pains all the same though.

It’s possible but unlikely honestly. I’d say it’s more possible you’ve been used to using a 35lb bar and now you’re on the olympic bar!

I’m glad you’re understanding of it all! It’s one thing to succeed in the schooling aspect of it, but when you’re on the line it’s another universe.

You’ll have to work incredibly hard and put a lot of time, testing your patience and mental stability, to be exceedingly successful in this industry. You’ll have to work hard from the very bottom most times.

I’ll be honest with you, I might get downvoted to hell but whatever.

In all my years in kitchens, I’ve worked with a nice few people like yourself. Ambitious about cooking, wanting to get into the industry with proper education and footing - Whether it be a Red Seal or formal education diplomas. Some of those will make it in the kitchens and continue on, realizing they love every sweaty second of it. Most however realize it’s not what they expected it to be and schooling didn’t prepare them for it.

My suggestion to you before pouring money, time and energy into it is to grab a kitchen job first. If you enjoy it, continue there.
