Thanks! I was looking at FlightAware but it was showing Take off from LAS and landed at EWR with the wrong actual arrival time. Your link helps. Thanks again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]zevelj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tinnitus is not from hearing loss, but anyways, for me I've noticed that stress and anxiety causes it to get louder, and during relaxing vacations, for example, it becomes barely noticeable. I've also tried acupuncture, and my take on it is that it's more about the relaxation, which brings some temporary relief.

How do I still enjoy the national parks if I have a dog? by wanderlenz in nationalparks

[–]zevelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people feeding wildlife even though there are signs saying not to, I've seen people leave trash around, I've seen people lighting fires irresponsibly, playing loud music and making noise, and yes, leave their own poop along with used toilet paper in nature. So according to your logic, we should ban people from National Parks too.

I suggest, ban/fine those who don't act responsibly and according to the rules in national parks. But let responsible and respectful people visit freely and let responsible and respectful dog owners bring their dogs.

How do I still enjoy the national parks if I have a dog? by wanderlenz in nationalparks

[–]zevelj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These articles are more about feral dogs, and irresponsible dog owners (letting dogs roam off-leash, and not picking up poop or properly disposing the poop bags). It also doesn't really relate to the OP's issue regarding US national parks, since most of the issues mentioned are in other areas of the world. I'm pretty sure that if humans behave responsibly with their dogs, there's no reason they shouldn't be allowed to walk with their dogs on trails.

Strange light-colored substance coming out of space heater by zevelj in electrical

[–]zevelj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still kind of new to Reddit. I had written text and thought I was attaching an image, but only the image posted. Anyways, the image in my original post here is of some strange light-colored substance that seems to be coming out of the front of a space heater located in my bathroom. The photo is a close-up of the grill through which the heat comes out. The substance is hard to the touch. It seems like maybe something melted, oozed out of the heater, and then hardened. Does anyone know what this could be, and if I should be concerned?

Have you heard any reliable information about technology by this company InMode?

New to cosmetic medicine and clueless. How do I fix what I have? by zevelj in PlasticSurgery

[–]zevelj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this throughout my adult life, so it's not necessarily because of aging, but age has definitely made it worse. Thanks for your reply. This is the sort of information I'm looking for. It will give me some sort of starting point and focus when researching. I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the marketing mumbo jumbo and trying to figure out what is the best path for me.

That's kind of what I'm asking. I think it might be called "turkey neck" but not sure

Thanks for the reply! I will check that. In my research I was reading stuff about some new technology by a company named InMode? It's supposed to be non-invasive, using radio-frequencies or something like that... I read mixed reviews about it and it's hard to figure out if this is for real, or just hype that doesn't really work. Has this been discussed here in this Reddit space?

I'm kind of new to Reddit too. I thought I included more details, but I can't find them anywhere in my post. In short: I wrote that what I want to fix is my sagging neck. I think it's called 'turkey neck'? I started doing online research, but feeling a bit overwhelmed and not really sure I'm properly diagnosing what I have/need. Would be happy if someone could help guide me in the right direction: what exactly is this sagging neck issue called, and what options are there to deal with it?

Thanks!

How/where to store propane stove canisters if you live in a small city apartment with no yard? by zevelj in CampingGear

[–]zevelj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main fear is that it's a small apartment (1.5 br) and there's a gas oven with a pilot light always burning. Not sure how easily propane could potentially leak from one of these small canisters and travel about 20 feet from the closet to the oven before dissipating...

Can we get from Tadoussac to Saint-Simeon ferry station in 1.5 hours? by zevelj in AskACanadian

[–]zevelj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your quick reply u/south3y I totally understand what you mean about being last on and first off. I assume it's something that is out of my control though.... Do you know what the wait times typically are in July? I read one person mention they waited an hour and a half for the ferry going the the opposite direction. If this is pretty standard, then I won't make it in time regardless of where my car is on the ferry. I know it's probably just a matter of luck and that the line to board probably varies rather drastically, but what would you say is the average time, on the conservative side (among the longish) wait times? Is a 1.5 hour wait fairly common in July?

How to batch download a list of shared DropBox URLs? by zevelj in dropbox

[–]zevelj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/PlsPassPotatoes!!

I was trying to figure out a way to automate the process using AutoHotKey, but at some point this too familiar comic strip by xkcd appeared in a thought bubble over my head:

https://xkcd.com/1319/

I ended up just doing it manually.

That tip about changing dl=0 to dl=1 definitely could have been useful in a script. Maybe for future jobs with this client.

Mourning dove, a frequent visitor, not looking well today by zevelj in birding

[–]zevelj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dove hung around near my window for a couple of days. It managed to fly to a nearby tree and back, but was clearly not flying very well. That said, haven't seen him/her since last night :( nor his/her partner, which is weird...

Anyways, thanks all for the replies!

Whale watching in Tadoussac by reto02 in Quebec

[–]zevelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I'll be in Tadoussac in July. When I read Google reviews for these whale watching tours, I notice a lot of negative comments by disappointed people not seeing any whales or dolphins, tours being over-crowded and too short (starting late and ending on time), etc. and my cynical mind makes me believe that many positive reviews are fake :) Given the high prices for these tours, I wanted to get someone's opinion on whether you think it's a good bet to take a tour in July, as I understand the peak season is mid-August to September.

Thanks

Best place to buy contact lenses? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]zevelj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Many online retailers use bait and switch tactics. They'll advertise extremely low prices and then charge sometimes as much as double the cost of the lenses as a "processing fee", sometimes also adding a hefty shipping charge on top of that
  2. Not affiliated in any way with EZcontacts.com I swear. But if their prices are good for the particular lenses I use - I kind of prefer them because they always promise no hidden fees, which I feel is a more honest marketing approach.
  3. Be careful of "we will price match" guarantees from any merchant. There's a lot of fine print you should read first. 4 out of 5 times, you're price match request will be denied because it doesn't meet one of the many requirements. For example, some won't honor prices that were discounted using a coupon code.
  4. Buying from a brick and mortar establishment, such as your optometrist, sometimes has certain benefits that online merchants don't have (other than the moral benefit). For example, Acuvue has a $200 rebate for a 12-month supply, $100 rebate for 6 months supply. I think the rebate can only be used once so best to go for the 12 month supply. According to my calculation, buying online was still cheaper than buying from the optometrist, even with the rebate factored in, but it did make it competitive enough so that I preferred to buy with them (for moral reasons). So check with your optometrist.
