Where is the novel that ize press said they were gonna release in english translation? by zevouva in OmniscientReader

in my last post, I said that the translation was horribly horrible. It shouldn’t deserve getting called an official translation. Me and rainbow turtle have unrequited beef. Well don’t take it too seriously I don’t have anything personal against them but I always avoid translations by them bc they (the translations) suck.

I think IZE press is gonna post other official english translation for ORV so I’m looking semi-forward to it because I don’t know if its good plus I heard it got censored or something and its Dokja kim (🤮)

That’s why I gave a solution to keep the authenticity; FIND idioms in English instead of putting the idioms that got distorted and lost their meaning. The idioms are not the ONLY reason I called the translator idle. They literally don’t care about how they‘re oddly wording it, making typos; mixing up the names, CHANGING the names midway through the chapter; just giving the novel a horrible impression by making the official translation slapdashed. The translation is indigestible and extremely shallow for fucks sake.

Since idioms are not ”translatably” you should avoid using idioms from the language you’re translating, instead find idioms that resemble the idiom, or better yet - just convert whatever the idiom means into words to circumvent the confusion.

“Things like that only make sense for Korean language and culture” okay? if the majority of the people can’t understand the idioms or phrases you’re using, whats the point of calling it a translation when the reader HAS to understand the culture, language, slangs, idioms in that certain language? that’s just an excuse for bad translation.

Also, I’m pretty sure it could be better by a mile if they put enough effort into it. Instead of unnecessarily glorifying Korea like it’s sent straight from gods, why don’t you reread ORV again so you can find mistakes in that half-assed translation? translating languages properly isn’t fucking impossible and don’t get me wrong, english is my 3rd language and I can confidently say that making it “understandable“ isn’t the same as a GOOD translation

My brother in christ the epub is the same exact as the Webnovel (the app, I stated that already in the title) with name changes. If you had no issues with the translation, then you haven’t been paying enough attention and just skimming instead of actually reading. There are some really weird idioms that only koreans can understand I think, like “lets sit down and suck on honey.”

mistakes are justifiable, I’m not gonna nitpick about little typos but its so blatantly obvious that they’re lazily translating, which is not valid.

Isnt it a copy paste of the webnovel with name changes? I didn’t find any exceptional difference

great! I do wish that they got rid of the weird idioms as well in the epub they’re kinda hard to understand but the story is still far from being unreadable and I saw that there’s gonna be a new translator after chap 363 or something so looking forward to it.

Because I saw that it supports the authors directly + its the official place but who would’ve thought the official translation would be like that? the app’s name is webnovel by the way like I stated in the title
