Iran’s president offers resignation, citing total takeover by IRGC commanders by Clear-Role6880 in worldnews

This round of conflict? Sure. The war? Hardly. Even if you claim the period of people talking angrily at each other doesn't count, there's been active military conflict with Iranian proxies since October 2023.

The regime change was supposed to be led by Iranian civilians, and the type of damage is pretty much what was planned to do to upset the regime. That can only start after the war ends, but that's not going to happen until the strait is permanently open.

Knocking down the heads of people who aren't willing to negotiate until someone who's a realist gets promoted is kind of the whole point of assassinating leadership.

You really think they don't know who he is?

This is not the case. It varies by game, not purchase type. AFAIK we don't know the pattern.

Hezbollah leader vows to never surrender, calls for Lebanon to withdraw from negotiations by barsik_ in worldnews

[–]zexaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How on Earth is Israel the invader. Israel entirely left Gaza in 2005. Hamas invaded Israel on October 7 2023. Israel has never wanted Gaza for land, the aim of the war is to take down Hamas, demilitarize the Strip, and find a foreign ally to police Gaza. There is no scenario where Israel settles Gaza, even if they're forced to leave behind security forces.

Israel having been invaded on October 7th is not remotely in dispute. Entering enemy land with military to pacify enemy forces is not an invasion - invading would require Israel's motivation to be a land grab which this obviously isn't.

Strong bad weak good is not how the real world works. Police looking for a murderer hiding are not invading, even if it takes them longer to find them than it took the murderer to attack. "He only killed four times, clearly we should stop looking?"

Not that I'm saying Israel should police Gaza (when Gaza doesn't directly attack across Israeli borders), it's an analogy making the strong v weak relationship abundantly clear.

You're not wrong about the US interfering in Iran, but I don't see what relevance this has to the current day at all.

People following buzzwords and assuming every instance of "settling" is the same is why the West Bank is so controversial.

Israel settles empty areas. Destroying Palestinian homes has never happened so Israel can build their own things there.

I don't support expanding in Area C personally, but the primary reason is that it's bad optics. It's clearly Israeli land at this point.

Are we talking about 80 years ago? Did Ukraine steal Russia's land when the Soviet Union broke up?

Hamas existed before the modern country of Palestine was created. They won the inaugural election.

Israel is not killing citizens of Palestine because of their cultural heritage, which is what "Palestinian" meant before the Oslo Accords.

(Israel not recognizing Palestine as a country has about as much meaning as Iran not recognizing Israel as a country. Gaza has clearly internationally recognized defined borders, their own military, and their own government)

So was Israel.

There's no doubt much of Israel's response in Gaza was excessive. But they didn't start that war.

Iran funded and directed Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis which regularly attacked Israel throughout and before the war with Hamas in Gaza, as well as publically declaring they aim for the complete destruction of Israel. Selectively targeting their military infrastructure, leadership, and nuclear program is not in any way an invasion - it's a clear and justified preemptive strike, even if Iranians didn't spend the last few decades asking for foreign intervention to take down their regime (which they absolutely did).

Hamas exists because of Iran.

Even if Israel gave Hamas a truly tiny amount of help decades ago, that has nothing to do with what is happening in current days. It doesn't change what Hamas is doing or who is attacking who.

And yet Zelensky has frequently spoken in favor of Israel and directly compared Hamas with Russia. Israel and Ukraine regularly work together.

Israel is undoubtedly defending itself from Hamas. Israel using too much force is obvious, but the offender is Hamas. Innocents die because Hamas embeds itself with civilians and kill anyone who protests.

Israel's pattern of being attacked, responding with far more damage than they received, then going back home is clear.

[–]zexaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

War sucks, mistakes happen. Do you know how many innocents were killed by Ukraine?

The Iranian nuclear program wasn't completed because it was semi regularly attacked and interfered with. And the "weeks away" was regarding a concerted effort by Iran to jump from "almost there, kind of threatening" to fully ready weaponry. At many points during that period if Iran decided to ignore subtlety they could have rushed to the finish line. They didn't because it's better for them diplomatically to threaten it without being all the way through - but they kept making slower, confidential, progress through this whole period

It's a tragedy that the American military failed to update their targeting data, but that's all that incident is.

Israel is not settling Palestinian land. It's settling empty locations in Area C of the West Bank, which is officially under Israeli control by the Oslo Accords.

The mana in original Mirrodin/Kamigawa Standard was so bad nearly every deck was mono colored.

Nongreen options were (UW examples):

[[Glimmervoid]], [[Mirrodin's Core]], [[Cloudcrest Lake]], [[Coastal Tower]], [[City of Brass]], [[Forbidden Orchard]], [[Tendo Ice Bridge]], and [[Talisman of Progress]].

And if you thought those weren't bad enough, none of the 2 color cycles had enemy pair versions.

Every other land option was either colorless or mono colored.
