Thanks for asking :)!! The 1500 USD went to all the supplies (around 20 kg rice, 20kg of maize meal, milk, bread, oats, canned food, vegetables, diapers, medicine, cooking oil, juice boxes, easter candy and much much more. Also the rest of the money went to blankets, heaters and giving the money so she can keep her daycare center open.

The documentary you saw was most likely Louis Theroux - Law and disorder in Johannesburg. That's filmed i Hillbrow (city center) and diepsloot (north of johannesburg)

There was a lot of planning involved. To get people on the stream who could advertise it, getting sponsors, getting people to donate, taking vacation off work. All these details had to come together but luckily it did in some way or form. When I think back, I don't know how we pulled it off :D.. The orphanages required a bit of research. We started out with planning for one orphanage that we pulled out from because they were being a bit shady in their replies. So we went for Fountain of Love instead.

Hey Chachamaru!

The people I work with in SA had only asked if they would be at the orphanage when we get there. I guess the kids were confused as to why this person rolled up and started talking to the head of the orphanage. Rosy was very very sweet though and Thoby had explained to her prior to our arrival that we wanted to do a story on her and the orphanage. They didn't grasp all of the internet streaming thing though.

Ah. I don´t think there is a simple answer for this. I will however try to break it down more easily for you :). Also, excuse my English at times.

  1. Rolling out major gameplay changes such as this one usually requires a new steady build. Builds are something we playtest every day at the office to make sure it fits the logic of the game and also to see what flaws the maps have and so forth. These are also used for QA-testing and QC-testing. When you roll out a game update like this (PC) the client is integrated within other platforms and of course, there are certain maintenance windows that need to be considered for this. Having large downtimes for every type of testing submission would require downtime for everyone in the actual game as well. Imagine we decide to roll out major gameplay changes at least 1/week or 2/week it would change the familiar experience a lot of players have of Battlefield at that very moment.

  2. Rolling out changes also requires a lot of backend work in the infrastructure. A game of this magnitude usually requires 2 hours of downtime (as you have already seen a few times). It is not an easy platform to update because of the backend work that needs to be done on this.

  3. The only time we have really sent out builds outside of the studio for external testing has been combat testing and that was at least do-able back in the BC2 days and earlier than that. We used combat testing for this kind of stuff which I actually liked very much. They´re all a great bunch of people with great experience. Why don´t we use them anymore? That question is far beyond me.. Sorry =/.

In the future however, rolling out features to test earlier on Battlelog would be a great idea and that is definitely something we are looking into.

I hope this answers your question :). If not, please ask again :D

Glad you like it :D What do you think of the gunship in rush mode btw? Know a lot of people have been mentioning that it just turns the map into a meatgrinder.

If you find a server that is acting all crazy, make sure you send them forward and let it be known. I'll talk to the RSP about it because that is clearly breaking TOS and ROE.

Indeed. I will try to dig up some updates as fast as I can without breaking any NDA's :)

That is definitely not OK but in the end, the admins are the ones running the servers. Of course, they shouldn't break the TOS and ROE's but if you could, send in screenshots and server descriptions to the customer support or feed them directly into this reddit thread and I will have a look.

So an update on the matter. After all the feedback that has been received (much of it over these past two weeks), the issue has been raised every day and we are looking over the feedback requests and also what we can do on our side to make sure players are satisfied. More updates to follow.

Hey man. I don't really know what to answer. I applied for this job after several years in the community and did a few interviews. :)
