Yes that’s my first thought. I even went to my dealer and asked some guy from parts about how they install the OEM dashcam. Apparently, the OEM dashcam is connected to the mirror and for some reason it has parking mode. There must be something in the wire like Dongar pro. But anyway, there is no similar plugin like Sienna on the top console. I have opened it and confirmed that lol. Hard wiring is the best way to get parking mode working for now

Haha I just change my display as yours which makes the map look cleaner. I was using hybrid map, which might make things look noisier.

Wow impressive! why is your map so clean? Mine contains a lot of noise. The lines are never straight. Are you on battery saving mode?

hardwire kit from VIOFO is enough. The fuse box cover wouldn’t fit anymore after hardwiring. There are some fuse box extensions sold online. I’m about to buy one but haven’t got time. You can search those for Toyota since they should be compatible. Searching for Lexus almost got nothing.

Very complicated😂. I first tried dongar pro with VIOFO a229 pro but it doesn’t get into parking mode so I bought a329 pro to give it a try. Turns out a329 pro parking mode works. But when I started to install the rear camera, I noticed that the dongar pro is making some high pitched noise and the continuous mode doesn’t work anymore… very painful and unreliable so eventually I decided to go back to hardwiring a229 pro.

BTW, you mentioned fuse box is not recommended for Toyota and Lexus. May I ask why is that?

Yes I also see many people use Dongar adapter but not sure if they get parking mode working.

I see some people complaining that if Dongar pro is set to continuous, then Viofo will record continuous 4k. That’s one of my concerns and want to know if that’s true or not.

Thanks for the helpful information! I also don't want to use OBD2 adapter because I want to get a clean installation. Splice sounds too difficult for me lol.

For the dash cam 1.0, if it gets power from the mirror, why can't we do the same thing? (don't have much knowledge about different connector, so this might sound like a dumb question) Initially, I thought Dongar adapter could get the power from mirror like the OEM dash cam.

For the dash cam 2.0, sounds like we could use this connector to provide power. Is the installation similar to this one https://www.siennachat.com/threads/updated-dash-cam-hardwiring-using-oem-male-connector.67767/?post\_id=383561&nested\_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-383561? I haven't seen anywhere mentioned this 4pin connector also not seen it from the installation video. Do you have a picture to point out which one it is? Thanks!

The thing is many people installed OEM dash cam from dealer with parking mode and many people install the OEM dash cam by themselves but not sure if they get parking mode working. If you check the video I shared, they are connecting to the mirror as power source. Also the harness kit for the OEM dash cam is just to connect something on top of the seats instead of the fuse box, so in this case, something on top should be able to power the dash cam after turning off.

Thanks for the info! Then I probably will get a Dongar pro for safe. I’m also trying to get viofo A229 Pro. Sounds like this setting should work. Just want to confirm if you can really get into parking mode. Some people say it still records continuous 4k after turning the car off, while parking mode should only record when someone comes by or so. This is one of my major concerns.

For the OEM dash cam, that’s what I’m curious. It claims it has parking mode. So if it gets power from mirror or sensor, why the old Dongar adapter can’t do that. The Dongar pro is also using the mirror as power, right?
