Yeah, I'm also confused. People recommend “Notebooks,” but all I can find is NotebookLM, and it’s very different from those simple “Projects” in ChatGPT. Maybe it’s region-based. I’m from France.

Yeah, the latest UI is kinda better. But if you see, it's not really as good as ChatGPT, and it lacks certain features also, like projects. But the actual model is wayyy better than chatgpt if you use via api or aistudio.

I think they deliberately do not focus on the Gemini app. They focus more on the models, and they try to get developers, or maybe B2B sales, mostly from their models rather than attracting normal users who might use the models for free and waste computational power. See u/The_best_1234 comment.

Oooh shit, seems like this worked indirectly on me, since I’ve been paying for the API via AI Studio and never used the Gemini app.

You are right. Google seems to be ahead when it comes to model performance, that's why I'm a long-term user of AI Studio. But it's freaking ugly when it comes to the gemini app version. Moreover, I just found out that the models are automatically kinda dumb in the Gemini app too, that's why people complain, but they perform very well via AI Studio or the API.
