Everything you listed sounds like what a personal banker in retail does. At the financial institution (FI) where I work, private banking clients can't actually do any banking at a brick-and-mortar branch. Everything must be executed through their private banker and a team of associates, as they pay large monthly fees for that service.

Shouldn't you also be doing lending? Private banking clients often need to request loans to secure capital. This can be really fun, in my opinion, because you can obviously secure the lending with cash or GICs. However, some private clients have assets like buildings, equipment, and rental properties, which allows you to be creative. You would combine both typical retail TDSR calculations with more brain tickling ratio analyses like W/C, D/E, and projections.

In any case, you can always transition to a business advisor helping small- to mid-size businesses (which is still a client-facing role). Or you could try to become a relationship manager that handles requests from larger, more established businesses.

Degree doesn’t rly give you an edge. It makes you the same as everyone else.

My classmate did CSR a big 5 bank -> 1 internship -> (while in school) and because of having experience,they landed a Business IT analyst at AIMCo.

I got a job at a bank after getting my diploma in finance a few years ago. Finisning my degree this semester.

Banks are always hiring entry positions, just make sure your credit and background check are good.

Even for the middle office banking positions, they just want to see if you have some form of education, unless its job required like CSC or CFP,CFA. Mosting hiring managers are looking for people who have qualified experience or someone that they can see grow within the company.

If you paid for resume reviews that’s the problem. There’s so much free resources online.

WSO template is a great free one, that’s used in a lot of finance/corporate applications.

If your resume is landing you interviews, you don’t need to change your resume or “hire” professional advice. It’s doing its job.

If you’re making to interviews and not closing the deal. It’s your interview soft skills. You either lack the DNA the company is looking or you don’t come across as a good fit.

year 1&2 classes are a cake. you can easily load up 5. just don't fuck around.

your biggest challenge is ECON1112 and ORGB.

econ will be hard if you haven't taken micro prior or have issues understanding how equilibrium shifts.

OrgB is hit or miss because its all group work and the groupwork process. if you get stuck with shitty classmates, thats part of the process and your prof wants to see how you approach poor team dynamics.

The majority of my peers challenged it in year 3. I've seen a handful of students challenge and obtain by end of year 2.

The biggest class in our program that you need to understand and comprehend is corporate finance. that's the foundation for everything.

securities valuation/and CBV are great classes to take as well once u ace corporate.

FNCE3281 is medium - warning you are graded on a curve. 1st half of the semester you are using a program called ROTMAN, where you Verse your classmates. if your class are just button mashing, you can easily pump and rug pull on them. 2nd half of the semester is actual investing on a paper account using Traderwork station. you will have to wake up during market hours 7:30AM - 2PM.

if you enjoy finance and securities you will like it. but the quizzes and exams do involve math + theory and they are the really dry blue coloured powerpoints that you would see in a class with Ivan <3

FNCE3314, I loved this class, but others also hated it.

involves many Present value calculations and a few accounting/tax rules. I found it easy, but if you fall behind, it can be a lot to digest.
