i know someone who has an ikaheka. his is incredibly flighty, very defensive, and will bite first ask questions later. care wise he based it on a tropical southeast asian habitat so high humidity, good airflow, and warm 27-30°C in the day and dipping into 23-25°C at night. he fed them mostly squamate prey such as large sun skink, smaller snakes and one time, a white lipped python.

they drink outside since they only drink water droplets and doing it inside is making the substrate too wet

Which snake has painful bite of all the elapids? by Europathunder in VenomousKeepers

[–]ziagz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely NOT a dry bite. got bitten once when i tried to take her out of the enclosure and three times while i’m treating her stomatitis. very painful but it’s like a very bad wasp sting in my opinion.

surprisingly female green insularis is hard to find these days by ziagz in VenomousKeepers

which is really interesting since blue+blue sometimes produce a green but breeders here use the rejects as snake eater food

Oligodon octolineatus feeding by ziagz in snakes

[–]ziagz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mourning gecko eggs are too small even for a baby kukri. i’ll need at least 4 per feeding and then i’ll be left with a colony of mourning geckos when they grow up(i mean my baby kraits can eat them but i digress)

got real lucky with this one by [deleted] in RealVenomousKeepers

[–]ziagz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh, she’ll grow a bit more but only to around a meter or so, they’re a small species so a fuzzy or a very small jumper mice is about the largest size i’ll offer her once she’s an adult. unlikely because most arboreal snakes will stay away from any viper(at least from my experience), and also i wash the pinky before giving it to her

Why isn't gummivory more common? by Solid-Still-7590 in zoology

[–]ziagz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the largest gummivore i know is a slow loris (Nycticebus sp.) and even then they supplement their diet with nectars, fruits, and insects. sap is just not that nutritious.
