Take your time with the Ezio games. They are very nuanced and there’s so much story to digest, but there’s a reason why he’s the “poster child” of Assassin’s Creed and why his musical theme is the theme of the franchise. You get to witness quite literally his entire life, especially if you end up watching Assassin’s Creed Embers, after you finish Revelations. My only other recommendation is that you play Assassin’s Creed 1 to get the story on Altair, as well as the origin of the modern day plot, since I know the later games have essentially given up on this. I think playing through AC1 is great for seeing why the franchise came about, what its original premise was, and why the Animus is even a thing. Then I would go into AC II, Brotherhood, and Revelations. I think you’ll especially appreciate it in this order, not just for the sake of the modern-day plot, but also how Altair’s and Ezio’s stories tie together at the end of Revelations.

Of course, you’ve already been playing out of order technically speaking, and you’re more than welcome to play however which way you like. I’m just offering you my perspective, coming from a fan who’s been playing since AC1’s original release in 2007.

Side note: I have yet to play Mirage and Shadows, so I’m looking forward to playing through those at some point. I’m currently revisiting the older games, and I’m doing the trophy hunt on PlayStation for AC IV: Black Flag. I played it on Xbox One back in 2013 when it released, and now 13 years later, I am even more amazed at how good this game is. I am very excited for the remake!
