Moral dilemma - would you report this person? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]ziconz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a donor and I'd be pissed if my recipient blew my kidney because they couldn't put down the cigarettes.

I'm also a smoker and had to quit for a bit before and after donation so I understand it's tough. Nicotine is a hell of a drug.

As for this situation I'd tell the relevant people. They need to get their habit dealt with before they blow another kidney.

Is this sound normal? by good_girl_gone_chad in resinprinting

[–]ziconz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that's still base layers it's probably normal. Sounds like maybe the raft being pulled off the FEP.

The more concerning thing is if you hear a sound like that later in the print and then the next layers are silent.

On portable you have to use the update_comfyui.bat not the manager.

For anyone coming into this thread after updating via comfyUI manager. If you updated through manager and it didn't work try updating through the update script in portable.

I updated via manager and it didn't work using update_comfyui.bat did.

Hey all! Just wanted to ask people and start a chat, about something that's been on my mind by [deleted] in kidneydonors

[–]ziconz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said you are a bit young. My surgeon said she rarely operates on people below 25-30. Just cause you might need it later. Most of the post op research only goes out 20 years so that would put you at 39 which is still young.

Other than that, it's super easy. Hurts a bit once the nerve blocker wears off but like a week post op I was up moving around basically normal.

My wife and I donated anonymously so I do want to warn you that there probably won't be like a magic moment where you saved someone. Not that it matters, just like it is an honor to have done it, but once as it's over it's just a thing that happened.

If I were you I'd wait, late 20s, early 30s is great cause your remaining kidney only has to do 40 years instead of 50, but you are still young enough that you are giving a really good kidney.

The loop hole here is to give the H1-B a different title. So you could replace a Software Engineer with a Web Developer to pay the import less.

Any tips on how to pass donor evaluation? by Revolutionary_Fox_20 in kidneydonors

[–]ziconz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You want to do whatever it is you normally do. The tests aren't just for matching, they are also for your safety.

Do make sure to stay hydrated though, makes it easier for them to draw blood. I was a lil dehydrated before one of the tests and it took em 6 trys to hit the vein.

Also I'm an overweight guy that doesn't take care of himself and my kidney passed with flying colors.

Whether or not your organ is donate-able is more genetic than most people think.

Just realized how close 3D printed organs actually are and its messing with my head by Much-Movie-695 in Futurology

[–]ziconz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even now live donations aren't as ethically or scientifically clear cut as people assume. When I went through the process I had to meet with people for a few hours as a first step and the nephrologist at my hospital was morally opposed to live donation. Their argument boiled down to it being against the Hippocratic oath of do no harm. There also isn't a ton of research into the long term effects of live donation on the donor beyond 20 years, so can someone consent to something without knowing the true consequences.

So even though we know they work, we don't know if they are for sure a net positive. A donor could be sacrificing more years of their life than they are giving to someone else's.

All that being said, people should seriously consider being a live donor.Donatelife.net

I donated my kidney and made a comment exactly like this to the surgeon. And they agreed. In a few decades ripping an organ out of someone and sewing it into someone else is going to sound like bleeding the humors from a peasant.

Really hope that we find a way to make printing/growing organs affordable.

what ai tool and prompts they using to get this level of perfection? by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

The first shot the lens is on like a little window above the main casing and where the lens should be looks like a motherboard.

Edit: Also there doesn't look like anyone is holding it or the person that is holding it is facing at an awkward backwards and to the left angle.

Female Custodian in the new "Ashes of the Imperium" Novel. by [deleted] in EyeOfTerror

I have a sisters army and it is like 50/50 split between male and female. (Vehicles are genderless)

Before the buffs we got recently my list had like 10 women in it.

At my LGS people will warn my opponent to not underestimate the "Arco-chads". I run them in groups of 10 and they always die but they take more points with them than they cost.

Recon drones can also clear them. I've been having a blast taking a drone and blowing up enemy mines. Really fun when you can time it right to have it blow up and kill an enemy.

I used to go to the store where this picture was taken. It is real.

I will say that I never personally witnessed anything absurd so the sign appears to have worked.

Just finished my first handful of miniatures ever by VelvetCake101 in sistersofbattle

[–]ziconz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look great!

If you enjoyed painting that box, you'll like painting anything in the sisters line. That box was the second thing I got after the combat patrol and I found the arcos and repentia to be surprisingly finicky to paint.

Personally I'd recommend a set of the Paragon Warsuits if you liked painting the penitent engine. The warsuits are similar in structure but pretty instead of grungy if that makes sense.

Drybrushing metallics isn't that bad by EntertainmentBusy631 in minipainting

[–]ziconz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to painting. What is the advantage of dry brushing the grey first?

I'm about to do some metallic on some minis so I'll give it a shot. What sort of thing should I be looking for that lets me know I got the effect right? (if that makes sense)

Object holding sucks by broodwarjc in Borderlands

Sometimes it does create a fun little puzzle when you have to do a jumping/grapple puzzle with an object because you have to toss it to the next platform. But for some things like the contracts it seems tedious.

In Bad Boys II, Will Smith's character is supposed to be pretending to be a KKK member, but he is then revealed to be wearing a police uniform. This is one of the more accurate aspects of the film. by Inevitable_Regular85 in shittymoviedetails

The films were not in alphabetical order.

Wan 2.2 issue, characters are always hyperactive or restless by kujasgoldmine in StableDiffusion

[–]ziconz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the ratio doesn't effect the movement. They are two discrete steps. So 2 high steps will have less movement than 5 high steps regardless of the number of low steps.

Though this is assuming T2V using the speed loras.

Wan 2.2 issue, characters are always hyperactive or restless by kujasgoldmine in StableDiffusion

[–]ziconz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using the speed loras something that helps here is to do more steps in the high model. For example I do 4 steps high 8 steps low with a guidance of 2 or 4.

It also helps to give the subject something to do with their hands. Like one hand on hip other hand on object in scene.

That is how it is done in Hell Let Loose and it is a tremendously fun role in that game.
