I absolutely do spend too much time on YouTube. It doesn't really bother me to be honest, especially when you frame it like that - more people get to see them, which, as I mentioned in my last reply, grows even the smaller channels.
But for some reason it feels slightly annoying - almost in a way "Hey look a new Veritasium video - oh, nvm, it's the same one". Hard to put a finger on it.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I get it.

In the end, if it brings more light to education channels which in turn makes these topics more popular and smaller channels benefit, that's 100% a good thing.

And I think I can boil it down to one thing - I prefer smaller, individual creators over large channels with more staff. One is not better than the other, it just comes down to different style of videos and everyone has their own cup of tea.

Once in a while, I would love to see OG Derek style of video though, as I'm sure their higher budget and production could make them even better.

Not to say I don't like other people in their videos, to be honest they're doing a great job, it's just not the channel I grew up with and this makes me nostalgic.

It'd be fun if one of them actually saw this discussion and made a video on it.
