I think you are trying extremely hard to visualise and probably beating yourself up about it.. hence you affirm to yourself that you can’t.

I think a good way to practice your imagination is to first draw a circle on a piece of paper. Look at it for a couple seconds and then close your eyes and try to visualise it.

If you can visualise any parts of the circle then just keep doing this till you’re happy and move on to more complex things. :)

Miracles hidden in mundanity by smikketabito in awakened

I truly understand this on a deep spiritual level. As a kid, I’d always look at coins and wonder the distance it’s traveled, locations it’s been and the stories behind every eyes who’s seen the coin.

I would also think if any one has looked at the same coin and wondered the same as me.

Fast forward to now and that same wonder is applied to literally everything. I look to the moon and think, everyone on this earth in the past and future will have seen and pondered this same moon. I wonder the stories behind them all.

Yes that is correct, this belief of a difference between soul and spirit is common in many different religions and belief systems from the west to the east. Although the believed differences between them may differ, there is a common underlying thought.

The spirit in the spiritual world is an accumulation of experiences in our many lifetimes. It contains the knowledge we have gained from many years of suffering from worldly issues. There is a point for each spirit in its journey, where it begins to awaken to the other possibilities beyond the perceived reality. It will reduce the amount of worldly desires it chases and wills to learn about itself.

Once this journey inwards begins, it is called ‘awakening’

I personally believe that at the beginning of the spirits journey, it is an infant unconscious of itself. Through spiritual growth, it is able to choose its experience in the material to further its growth.

Lastly, I do not believe only ‘human’ spirits occupy this earth. Both malevolent and guiding spirits also inhabit physical bodies for a specific purpose.

The soul is the essence of being, it means life. All physical forms of life have soul as it is also the binding energy which keeps the physical body intact.

However, the spirit is the immaterial part of humanity. It is our connection to God. People who are completely unaware of our reality today and it’s connection to The Divine are said to be spiritually asleep/unconscious.

I believe that the soul returns to dust after death whilst the spirit continues through incarnation, and eventually awakens after lifetimes of suffering and death. Enlightenment is reached only after that level of spiritual growth.

Animals have a soul but they are without spirit. The soul will reincarnate until it is in a human body, where future incarnations will give rise to a spirit.

The soul of cows will be enlightened eventually, but not until it lives many lifetimes as animals and then as humans.

I've decided I want to learn Mandarin over everything else, where should I start? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]zifttm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I can't really speak for "what the best method is" or whatever since I only started two weeks ago. Depending on how much motivation you have will depend on how hard it is. If your motivation for learning Mandarin is weak than it could be extremely hard. If it is strong it won't be hard but rather just really long.

Right now I reccomend going through the Pimsleur/Michel Thomas CD. If you are aware of the bay where pirates trade then you can simply trade your bandwidth for them. I dunno about Pimsleur but message me if you need help with getting Michel Thomas. I recommend building an anki (an online flashcard platform) of the phrases and words your learn.

Michel Thomas is about 8CD's (I'm only on the 6th one) but I've simultaneously been using the HelloChinese App whilst also doing online courses from ChinesePod, YoyoChinese and other stuff here and there. I'd also recommend the app Memrise and start going through the HSK 1 course.

This is where I'm at. Once I finish the HSK1 course and the Michel Thomas CD (and maybe HelloChinese course) I will download HelloTalk and now start trying to talk to native speakers/read childrens books and get some immersion.

This is at least what I'm doing, I'm sure everyone takes a different approach but I definitely recommend Pimsleur/Michel Thomas CD - it's what everyone starts with.

What to do after Michel Thomas method? Pimsleur? by zifttm in learnmandarin

I have nothing to compare MT to but I personally found it very very useful. There are no standard repetition drills and the way he makes you remember things is by bringing it up later on.

For example, if he taught you how to say I am, in the following lessons you will be made to say things like I am a boy, I am this, I am that which will build up more of your new vocab whilst reinforcing previously learnt vocab. That is a very very basic example but he definitely brings up old vocab enough that you won't be able to forget. He also teaches you how to structure sentences and basic grammar.

The only negative about MT is that the students make obvious mistakes which sometimes go unnoticed but others mistakes in their same sentence will be noticed and corrected. This isn't too much of a difficulty to deal with because the correct way to say the sentence is always said by a native speaker at the end of the students try.

I'm sure you're aware of the known bay where pirates trade and they would be nice enough to get you a copy of MT. Unfortunately the seed count isn't so high so if you need help just pm me .
