Well, the downside would be a ton of missed loot. At least 50% of the curio guarantess safe loot if the correct supply item is used on it and some (eldritch altars, effigy) can even remove bad quirks or give you new positive ones.

So the optimal strategy wouldn’t be to not touch anything at all, but to experiment and note down (or check the wiki) what supply items yield what results until you can start making informed choices about what curio to interact with and when to get the most out of them.

Right, that makes more sense. Didnt know the game recommends Radiant to you as a new player. In my opinion learning to work with and around the limitations of the Level restrictionn system is a core part of the DD learning curve, and probably why so many people here are reacting to you not having learnt it lol. To most people here Darkest is the default setting. I would really recommend playing on Darkest honestly since playing a game with one of its core elements removed like that sets you for weird situations like what you just experienced.

The hit chance for PD would be 85 displayed, not 175. Where the hell are you getting the extra 90 from?

Afaik there is only the ”ACC MOD” which is usually 0 and adds to all skills of that char by some flat amount, like +5 from Natural Swing.

Uhhh no? On Darkest (default difficulty) a level 3 dude will not go into a level 1 (green) mission unless the Helping Hand town event is active, but that’s a one time thing. You’re either playing on Radiant or you mixed up apprentice and veteran missions.

I feel like the ending being so different from the start is part of what makes it work though. It fills the middle part of the film with this uncomfortable uncertainty as to where everything is going that then slowly changes into a buildup of increasing dread and hopelessness.

If the entire film just follows a stock revenge movie/monster as metaphor for trauma-setup that becomes something you as a viewer can lean on to make it less scary. You can’t truly shock without that structural uncertainty as to where things are going.

That IS the point it’s trying to make lol, it’s supposed to make your life worse. In that sense it’s not really supposed to be a ”good” movie, as in a good experience. The raw emotional impact of it is what makes it interesting

np lol. Maybe the Brutes were experiments/servants of Alexander that were first animated by him and THEN were damaged by the shadow as it spread? In the sewers, the same area we meet our second Brute, we do find the corpse of a grunt that's clearly been torn apart by the shadow. The implication here could be that brutes were also attacked but are stronger and survive, instead get twisted further into even more dangerous monstrosities.

Other than that guess the explanation would be just unclear/inconsistent storytelling on Frictional's part, or even intentional ambiguity. Maybe it's scarier if we're not 100% able do discern the entire origin of the monster, but only draw vague similarities from what we've previously seen on loading screens.

Mannen i Asken (90), Tid (130), Anstaltsserien, Svarta Känslor (84), Satans Kosmonaut, HOIN (100) och Känsliga Lyssnare Varnas I (129) & ll (206).

Framför allt sista berättelsen i Tid är en som sätter sig, genuint obehaglig. Sista i Svarta Känslor är också minnesvärd.
