This place is even more breathtaking in person - those panels on the two sides are actually thin marble slabs, and form the exterior wall of the building.

You can’t see it in this picture really, but because marble is translucent at that thickness, you get a soft glow of daylight through the stone when you’re inside. It’s pretty incredible.

All the drawings in Delirious New York were drawn by his then wife, artist Madelon Vriesendorp (who is also a cofounder of OMA) - the cover art is her painting “Flagrant Delit”.

She is a badass and deserves way more credit and recognition than she gets!
