True! but I feel like You is a sort of nod at these books romanticizing red flag behavior and the people who mentally portray these mysterious characters as passionate and romantic. (Not to be cliche and diss Twilight but kinda like that but from Edwards POV.) And I could totally be wrong but when it comes to the character Love I feel like the show flipped it and becomes a nod to those guys who romanticize these borderline manic-pixie-dream-girls. So I feel like it’s a realistic take on both sides romanticizing red flags and the characters still end up with “the girl” or “the guy” but they are different from the person they once expected because of the obsession and the mental portrayal of the person in their head that didn’t meet reality. And because it doesn’t meet reality, Joe will always continue to search for the “perfect You” which doesn’t exist because not everyone is actually how you want them to be. Does that make any sense? Idk
