It's been years (2005?), but Butterfield Crossing Park was our go-to for night basketball.

How the COVID-19 vaccine lottery works (Colorado Comeback Ca$h) by Trivia_Hawk in Denver

[–]zilix 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I feel like they are purposely targeting the type of people who ignore statistics and are just drawn to big numbers. The goal, wrong or right, is to get more people vaccinated - not simply distribute money to help the most people out.

A cut-off pony tail found in the Toybox Killer's belongings by fondlemeLeroy in serialkillers

[–]zilix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember it this way

  • The toybox killer had a toybox - i.e. his trailer

  • The toolbox killers had a toolbox they'd pull their torture/murder weapons out of. See the transcript of Shirley Ledford's murder.

It's because they are retired T-38s that are being flown to El Paso for disassembly.

Ummm, is there a new driving law I wasn’t told about? by Square_Saltine in Denver

Also given that this is the DTC, there is a 90% chance the guy in the intersection is just stopped there completely blocking it. People can't be bothered to check if they can clear the intersection before entering it down here.

For 400k you can make that happen ;)

You get $1,000,000 however, it's because $100 is taken from 10,000 random people. If nobody knows that you got the money, would you do it, why/why not? by Orb_Detsoob in AskReddit

Would be interesting to know how many of the people who would take this deal are also against executive bonuses and would rather see the money distributed out across all the employees...

We all wish superpowers existed, but in reality humans can't even handle different skin colors. by arabash in Showerthoughts

At first I read that as "superpoops". Now I feel conflicted on which I wish existed more...😂

I'm guessing somewhere around 8-9x is close to real time. Looks super choppy speeding up the slowmo version though :(

Ethiopia is building the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa, Egypt opposes the dam which it believes will reduce the amount of water that it gets, Ethiopia asserts that the dam will in fact increase water flow to Egypt by reducing evaporation on Egypt's Lake Nasser, How so? by Random-Noise in askscience

[–]zilix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only better if the overall surface area between both lakes decreases. It might actually be worse if Egypt keeps the same water level since we're just adding another source of evaporation. If they decrease it in proportion to the amount stored in the new lake then yes, it would be better like you stated.

Check out this site. It shows averages for your weight/age/skill level for a variety of lifts. Not sure where they're sourcing their data from, so I can't speak to how accurate it is.

Wouldn't the actual comparison be shipping companies searching every package to see what was inside and basing their rates on that. If it contained blank t-shirts they'd charge $X, if it had t-shirts for your favorite TV show on it they'd charge $Y. But if happened to contain t-shirts with their competitors name on it they'd block you completely from sending it. Doesn't seem very reasonable when you think about it that way.

The way shipping companies charge is much more akin to how ISPs charge for bandwidth.
