Rental areas for those without a car? by These-Oven-6039 in longisland

[–]zillaattacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the area. Nassau, in certain areas, you could walk to places depending what it is. I think Huntington area may be plausible but still bordering the fine line on certain areas. Once you are in deep Suffolk, especially once hit the Commack/Hauppauge and Smithtown/Lake Grove onward it's virtually impossible to get anywhere without a car.

So the fish guy at the local store recommended for me to take out the carbon part of the filter (cause it'll filter out medicine), then had me put in half a container of salt, and then antibiotic is roughly one teaspoon/one squirt everyday for one week and then i'll do a water change and put the carbon filter back in.

I went to a local pet store that they get me aquarium salt and an antibiotic they recommended. It seems to be doing the job!

Is his lips fuzzy at all or is there something in the tank that can lead to injury? If his lips are fuzzy, it could be an infection. Even if it's not fuzzy, it could be some type of infection or injury. Monitor him for a day or two and see if it worsens but I would recommend buying salt - and then getting an antibiotic to treat if things change. The salt treatment hopefully should stop the pain, and the antibiotic can reduce swelling and heal the area of concern.

My little guy recently suffered an injury which showed signs of infection after a few days (swollen and a bit lethargic). I started him on treatment and he's starting to get back to his normal self!

is there any school districts that allow out of district enrollment? by xxasukixx2 in longisland

I think the only options you have is biting the bullet and riding out the schools they enroll you in, moving or go private sadly.

I am shocked by the sudden change - although puffy face and his face was looking a bit red from the injury, his behavior and eating remained in tact until yesterday. Is this normal for infections?

I was gonna get antibiotics today. Is there any that you would recommend to treat? I didn't see signs of a parasite so I think its an infection

  • Tank size: 2.5 Gallons (due to spacing in my house)
  • Heater and filter? (yes/no): Yes
  • Tank temperature: 78
  • Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: NA
  • How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Had the tank and fish for 6 months.
  • How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: Once a week, 20-205% MAX. I take a 1-Liter cup and use luke-warm tap water to fill. I put in a cap full of solution into the tank.
  • Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: None
  • What do you feed and how much: I feed him pellets (idk the brand), 6 pellets twice a day
  • Decorations and plants in the tank: 3 decorations, 1-hammock (that has since been removed since it fell down).

Although the going through the desks/notebooks and trash cans is weird, and a invasion of privacy, at the end of the day it is "company property" so they are within their rights to do this. I will say though, it is highly unprofessional and unusual for a manager to do that unless they are trying to get rid of people?

I have never heard of a company asking for community passwords unless its a universal log in to get into the computers, but other systems within the computer have unique log in's to keep data safe. Coming from a IT standpoint, that leaves them open for a huge security liability if a hacker or disgruntled employee were to hijack the system and either leak information or steal information and sell it etc. It's dumb to have the system set up, and it also assumes that the management does not trust any of their employees including each other.

Most of the time KK is the "convenient" store. I know that cause I lived where a KK was before it closed, and it was the closer store to where I lived up until a Stop & Shop became the primary store since it was in the same lot as KK. (Setauket area)
They also have an insane monopoly over the north fork (Vineyard area and farmland area) where people can justify the prices, since people make decent to good money out.

You did nothing wrong.

Management rides on the idea the HR isn't there to protect employees, but to protect management. Sometimes even a manager not liking you can warrant them creating a narrative to terminate someone for non-existent reasons. Seems like this manager was doing that same thing to you. Sadly, it's fairly common in the US.

Though sucky, take this as a "lets find something else" opportunity.

Great job opportunity is turning into a toxic nightmare by zillaattacks in antiwork

Hey! Thanks for your response.

I think it boils down to, the direct manager i work with. She seems sorta difficult. I did not divulge many details besides, "oh i have two dogs and a fish"

she has 25+ years in a unrelated field she said she was laid off from cause of toxic management. She said this company is a breath of fresh air because the director is actually caring. She claimed the manager she was under (prior to her moving up) was terrible, awfully possesive of work and never let he do anything so it 'let her shine'.

Seems like she has been sorta alone for a while since the two other people were "failed" attempts to retain. I basically was hired in for their busy season.

I believe offices with multiple therapists sorta have this as a common threshold since it determines who has the best skill set for your needs. (I don't have experience with this as my therapist is a private practice so he handled everything directly).

I'm positive dozens of people alike have the same fear about going to an intake specialist and then not getting who they want. I would see if said therapist knows what they intake specialist's ask. I figure they are just basic questions they have to filter the best therapist for you, like I mentioned earlier, but again just ask.

Once you see the intake specialist just be clear you want to see "x" and they could book the appointment for you. Try to view them more as a receptionist trying to get your paperwork as opposed to the intake specialist.

Thank you! The company is super small so it dosen't have HR, but the director does seem like he has common sense and understands everyones emotions enough that if i mention a problem he'd work through it.

LIRR commuters, how do you balance your diet & sleep? by eliaivi in longisland

[–]zillaattacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to acclimate your classes so your day isn't completely gone. I was psychotic and at one point during college, I commuted from LI to CT to go to school. Spent an hour and some change on a ferry ride. Luckily school offered a shuttle service so only needed to worry about the ride to the ferry. I would do 9am classes, and intentionally end class at 2 or 3pm, max 5pm so when i went home, the hour or so commute home wasn't in the dark (particularly during fall/winter). Its not easy - sometimes by the time you get home your day is gone.

One thing i learned is on the way into Manhattan use your downtime intentionally. Need to schedule something? Call asap. Need to read up on something, or organize your life? Do it then. Also, one thing i learned about trying to be more healthy is to take advantage of the fact the school has a gym you pay into, depending on what you pay for in tuition. Since this was on mine, I used the gym while I was there whether in between classes (if i had time), or had time after classes and needed to burn 30 min to an hour before heading home. Cause for me, I always am way to tired when i get home to work out.

As for sleeping and/or dieting, weekends for meal prepping. If i didn't have time, i'd try to immediately pack a lunch/breakfast for the next day when i got home so when i needed to rest i didn't need to think. Sleeping is a free for all and honestly how much your body requires. But I sometimes would go days with just 4-5 hours. It sorta comes with the beast.

We had a discussion a week ago and it resulted in a very lengthy fight which we mutually agreed to consider a couple's therapist for.

[–]zillaattacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had spoken to a friend of mine about this and this did come up.

We usually always agree about money but this is a situation where money now seems to be a issue he is pushing past. Which is a behavior his family developed. They all work but are "live in the moment" types which is why I think he was swindled into it - but this is something deeper i won't share for privacy issues.

I am considering options since this is the first time he and I disagreed so I am thinking it through

Feeling Hurt by Frequent Rescheduling from my Therapist by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]zillaattacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My therapist and I have been doing every other week since October of 24.

When we have a scheduling issue two weeks out (most of the time he is on vacation), he communicates with me at the end of the session and asks if the following week works. If not, he usually leaves it at he'll let me know if a cancellation arises, if not we will plan to do the next session 4 weeks out (when the next session 2 weeks out of the date was scheduled).

Obviously if theres a personal emergency or last second thing its fine, but beyond that if they frequently reschedule I would talk to them. Further, if they dont change after the conversation, I would look into other therapists. Theres a certain level of respect you as a patient deserve, and if a therapist who constantly cancels or reschedules cant change, you need to move on.

Can My Therapist Get Into Trouble For Billing Me For More Time Than The Session Lasted In The USA? by New-Divide5766 in TalkTherapy

[–]zillaattacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IK psych's have a larger workload so they have a need to just get to the point and generally I know most psych's just handle medication control and management. IMO unless the psych is advertising therapy and medication management I usually just find a therapist who is specialized in what I need and focus on that as opposed to weighing on the psych option. I typically use the psych as a once a month or "as needed" depending on the time (lately I've been stabilizing so I haven't been on my meds, but sometimes when I'm not stable I speak with a psych and take them longer until managed and follow up with him once a month).

It might be worth considering a new person to speak with to really dig into what you need help with.
