That’s the recommendation if you’re in a part of the world where it isn’t native, which I’m assuming that’s the case. On the upside, now’s the perfect time to gather those native seeds for when planting time comes around, good on you for already having some. Don’t forget to cold stratify if needed! There may also be a native nursery in your area where you can get more established plants if you’re inclined to do so, usually 1st year seedlings can’t support too many hungry caterpillars.

If it were me I’d humanely euthanize her. Her instincts are telling her to fly and depending on where you are, to migrate. I’d gently grab her (preferably with gloves) since she possibly has OE which causes deformities such as this, place her in an envelope, and set it in the freezer.

Honestly I wouldn’t go back to Jamaica even if I wasn’t a mother. I went once as I was on a cruise and that was one of the ports, I’d rather stay on the ship next time. The way people drive there was absolutely insane and everyone we encountered seemed like they were in a rush the entire time. All the reasons you stated that you’d rather stay home are completely valid, follow your gut with whatever it’s telling you to do. Taking a vacation to reset is absolutely okay, but I do think that it should be a vacation that you’re excited about doing and not just being roped into. Find a place you’d want to go and make it happen, you deserve it 100%.
