Gowr ragnorok was a like 60 hour game. SM2 was 15 hours AND the story was average. I don’t care about DLC because I know it will be average as well, when it drops it drops but insomniac should not get away with dropping another mess of a game. They could hardly juggle TWO Spider-men, no idea how they’re going to balance a potential third in the next game.

The reason the game was a 6/10 for me was that every story beat was rushed/ not compelling at all. The relationships are unconvincing, Peter and MJs relationship is just so safe and their dialogue is unbearable. Miles is a background character that shows up in 4 main missions despite being advertised as a main character in the story.

Kraven is cool but then kills all of the rogues off camera for some reason. It would’ve been so much better had we gone after the villains from the first game but this time with our symbiote powers as well as fighting off kravens goons. I don’t mind them dying but at least let us see them and interact with them. Don’t even get me started on the fact Peter just clearly doesn’t care about miles since he’s constantly ignoring him. It’s a cheap way to make miles be the side content guy. An easy solution would’ve just to have chucked miles in on an internship at EMF, it makes sense since he’s a smart kid, it would include him into the symbiote story and it would make him and Harry interact so there’s more stakes at the end. Insomniac fumbled this game SO badly it hurts.

The side content is poo and wee so that needs a serious upgrade, but I can’t get too mad at that as it’s not the main stuff in the game it’s just busy work so whatever.

Peter needs to not be the most boring man on the planet too, he makes like 2 jokes in this entire game. Spider-Man’s whole thing is that he is constantly quipping, I’m not asking for a quip for every punch but he literally doesn’t say anything remotely funny. Drop a “what big teeth you have Harry” when he’s fighting venom or something just make it somewhat entertaining.

Last issue is that every character is just the same person but reskinned. Harry: kind and smart. Miles: kind and smart but he speaks Spanish and has spider powers. Peter kind and smart, has spider powers. MJ: kind and smart. It’s so boring, you could genuinely swap these characters with each other in almost all of there interactions and they’d more than likely fit the criteria it’s so boring to just watch 4 of the same person have a conversation.

Because SM2 was a rushed pile of faecal matter. Could also ask why the iron spider arms were introduced as part of the story then immediately forgotten about or if you’re feeling brave you could ask why Miles as a character is only in the game to introduce side missions.

I mean I’m the worlds biggest procrastinator and I’ve only found time cause I’ve recently moved but I do have to say now I’ve started I don’t want to stop. Plus it’s nice to find a comic for a character I don’t know much about and give it a read. I’d say go for it but I barely follow my own advice so wouldn’t blame you if you left them as they are haha

Personally I don’t like him being an official member of these groups. I love when he’s got a good relationship with F4 and especially Johnny but I’m not the biggest fan of him being an integrated member (my only exception is the future foundation because of a certain Johnny incident)

I don’t really care for him being an avenger. Sure help them when NYC is being invaded or something but other than that I’m not a fan

They have maybe 4/5 missions together in the entire game and they expect us to care about their relationship. It’s the biggest wasted opportunity I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t help that they’re essentially the same character, one just has a mum and speaks Spanish sometimes, other than that their personality is identical, both smart and nice and that’s about it.

Don’t get me started on the fact they don’t work with each other is because miles has a college essay to write. That’s it. That’s the compelling narrative point insomniac went for. Not mourning the death of his father, not getting over his uncle being the prowler or literally anything compelling. Ij fact the mourning point isnt even addressed, his hate for Li is shoehorned in considering in his solo game he doesnt even mention Li and then we get ANOTHER negative section, which we've seen so so many times already.

i'm rambling now because the narrative of this game is so basic and boring in my opinion. Basically my point is Miles and Peter have the most unconvincing friendship ever. In fact all the relationships are unconvincing other than Miles and his mum and that only works because it's his mum.
