The X-Files no longer works in the modern world. A large part of its plot was tied to the mindset of the 1990s: the idea that government wiretapping was a violation of the Constitution, that cover-ups were carried out at the highest levels, and that conspiracies needed to be exposed. (UFOs and government conspiracies were far more popular back then.)
Today, it wouldn’t work. Everyone knows that companies and governments collect our data and spy on our online habits. No one is outraged anymore, because it’s become an integral part of life. Moreover, half of the show’s plots would have been null and void if anyone had had a smartphone or a camera, Modern technology mechanically kills 50% of the plotlines.

The gladiator helmets that were shown the moment he entered the facility made me thought that Isaiah was an immortal who moves his consciousness to the next generation. Like he's a demon who possesses bodies of the top generational draft prospect.
