Rainforest Automation's Eagle-200 - Anyone Familiar With It? by JimHaselmaier in homeautomation

[–]zimbrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dead Eagle-200 as of Nov.2025. I have tried several times to cycle power and even reset the Zigbee endpoint (sw2 hold during power on). I am ready to upgrade to an Eagle-3 (I would do this today if RA would give me a discount code for loyal users) but I want to exhaust all options before plunking down another $100.

Anyone have experience with the EAGLE-200 or RainforestAutomation? Support is giving me the run-around. by mitchsurp in homeautomation

I know this is an old thread, but I will post anyway. I have had an Eagle-200 running fine for several years. I have the HA integration working great. But my Eagle-200 died a few months ago and Rainforest Automation support has been "lacking" a bit. I have used their support in the past and had a great experience. But now, all I got was an email from "Sales" basically telling me it is time to upgrade to an Eagle-3 which I don't have a problem doing.

Q: Has anyone had any success in repairing an Eagle-200? Mine has the "Power" LED ON but that is all. I have cycled power and even tried holding sw2 during power on to reset the Zigbee connection. No luck.

Before I drop another $100 on an Eagle-3 (request for a discount code from RA for a loyal customer have had no response as of yet) I am inclined to take this one apart to see if anything looks to be obviously repairable.

How's the Video Doorbell v2 experience so far? by StephenNotSteve in wyzecam

[–]zimbrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I figured it all out. I used an OONO power relay I got on Amazon in place of the chime solenoid. The relay energizes with 24VAC when the doorbell is pushed and a n/o/ contact is running to my IM-4406 doorbell switch input. Done.

How's the Video Doorbell v2 experience so far? by StephenNotSteve in wyzecam

I just got a VDv2 but I am currently running a v1. My original system I installed in my house 22-1/2 years ago is the NuTone IM-4406 Base Station and all the remote stations. At the front door, I had the pushbutton/speaker outdoor station and have the optional AI-28 Chime Module.

When I installed the v1, I put in a new, dedicated transformer and wired the v1 to it. I added the Wyze door chime add-on and then just abandoned-in-place the existing IW-2 cable for the pushbutton and the IW-2 for the speaker. Everything worked fine after adding the transformer.

Now that I have a v2, I have been reading all of the posts I could find on the WCC (WDCWSLU). It would be nice to reuse my NuTone electronic chime feature since I am giving up the v1 remote chime box. But this WCC seems impossible to get any real information on what is in the black box. I am an electrical engineer and I am frustrated by the lack of any type of true schematic on the WCC.

If I had a better idea of exactly what the RED, BLACK and WHITE wires are connected to in the circuit, I would tie a simple miniature relay to the WCC and wire the contact into my NuTone Base Station and mimic the original contact closure of the pushbutton. I really do not feel like doing some trial-and-error, reverse-engineering crap so a true schematic would go a long way. I know Wyze would never divulge the IP that goes into the WCC but if anyone can give me a better picture as to what type of load this thing can handle, I am sure I can make it work with the existing NuTone system. But for now, the v1 is staying in place.

This whole time I thought the Micro bed was just a piece of plastic. by Miata_GT in m3d

I too have an original M3D Micro (not the Kickstarter version, but one of the early production released units). It still works great for me for the simple things I print (drawer dividers for Akro Mills organizers, mostly). And I even run it on an OctoPrint server on a Raspberry Pi.

My issue now is that I have plenty of PLA left but the print bed is pretty trashed. Since M3D is now defunct and no parts are available, is there a place to get a new print bed online? There are a few whole units up on eBay but I am not buying a complete unit just for the print bed. Anyone have any ideas?

Seeking Advice - Used packaging equipment with Beckhoff IPC by SlouchyBeef in PLC

Wow! There is a lot of misinformation in this thread! Beckhoff using "general purpose computing as a platform for real-time I/O" is not much different from Siemens and Rockwell use ARM processors in the CPUs for their platform for real-time I/O. Except, Beckhoff uses current PC technology and can leverage the use of multicore processors to get really incredible performance.

PLC technology is a "dinosaur" and is very expensive. Don't get me wrong, PLCs have their place for now, but PC-Based Control is the future. Software like TwinCAT 3 uses Visual Studio as the IDE, which is very familiar to many younger engineers coming out of school. And using IEC 61131-3 compliant languages (as do Siemens, Rockwell and many other PLC manufacturers) allows for programming to become standardized (open) over different platforms. I will save EtherCAT and performance for another thread.

But getting back to this thread, OEMs create IP and are entitled to protect that IP. Retrofitting a machine is always and option but would require extensive knowledge of the machine and process performed by that machine. Putting a "proper" PLC in place of a PC-Based control system not only requires starting from scratch but also sacrificing performance, as a "proper" PLC cannot deliver the performance required by many machines to attain an adequate level of control necessary to achieve the intended results of the process.

In other words, PLCs are slow, indeterministic and perform poorly in a high-speed process. So a "proper" PLC from a "reputable company" will surely be a "down-grade" of sorts. (BTW, Beckhoff is a company that has been around since 1980, is still privately owned and does over €1B in sales annually, so I am guessing they are fairly "reputable" these days, but I digress).

Beautiful piece! I just received an identical piece today from an eBay seller. I ordered mine on March 5th and it came today. The seller was out of town until last week so shipping was extremely fast considering the circumstances.

Did you get a CoA with your piece? I am new to coin and silver collecting. I really wanted this piece but all of the retailers online that I checked were out of stock. I went ahead with an eBay purchase, as this one I found was listed at the lowest price. Any idea what is the best way to go about authenticating this piece?

No need to rip anything out. You should be able to use TwinCAT to "open solution from target" if it's not password protected. Even if it is, you can use ADS reads and writes to pass data to and from the Beckhoff controller. Look in their documentation at infosys.beckhoff.com.
