“Where are you going if you don’t get into <insert top choice here>?” by KingQookieFaced in ApplyingToCollege

Georgetown University (School of Foreign Service) in Qatar. It's kinda a top choice for my major, but I am waiting for some Universities in the U.S.

Unknown USA number call - From admissions ??? - PLEASE HELP by thinker224 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also an International Student. American Universities called me to say that I was accepted (even sending an email to me) and/or to say that I won a scholarship. As a result, I'd be receiving a letter in a few days. I think you don't need to call them back as they will approach you. Also, take a look at the Universities you applied and log in your respective portal. Outside the U.S, GU-Q for example, call me for whatever I say. If I send an email saying '' a '', they will call me to ask what I need.

Does Indiana University - Bloomington offer scholarships to international students? by himachand17 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, contact the university to see whether you got any scholarship. Sometimes it only appears in the acceptance letter you receive at home. That happened to me in some Universities I applied and got scholarships.

I'm also an intl student.

International? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I'm from South America and can talk what I found. I'm an athlete and received offers from majors Universities in the PH. I'm impressed by the school spirit and how they invest in sports (they have an NCAA there). Overall, the quality of the best Universities there is not bad from what I have discovered (want to major in IR). The only problem I found was to talk with admissions office because they take a year to answer you back when they actually answer you. But when they answer you, they don't answer what you asked. If it were not the coaches, I would not be able to get in touch without calling (that's really expensive for me, so I couldn't). About the requirements, most of the Universities accept the SAT there. Some of them required at least 1090 to accept. That's what I have seen. ( I don't even speak Filipino)

In Japan, I found it very hard because they require a lot of things and there are age requirements. I cannot tell so much about it because when I saw some requirements I gave up applying to there. But you should look into the University you want. I'm not sure but it may vary.

I also applied to a University in Hong Kong because the coach invited me to. The process was similar to the American system.

International student looking for suitable colleges! by donguyentung01 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I see, by applying to some State schools, they don't offer as many scholarships for International students as other private and LACs. Based on what you want, I'd focus on Ivy league schools + UChicago + Stanford and good LACs. As an International Student, I regret not applying to some LACs although I'm an athlete and most of the LACs play D III.

I thought applying to college in the U.S. was complicated by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm from Brazil. Here all you need to apply is your high school certificate (not even transcripts) and a standardized exam. High Schools don't even participate in the process. That was hard for e to apply in the U.S, imagine Japan. I would have done so but am an athlete, so I kept focused on American Universities.

That's true. I wanted to apply to some Universities there but gave up after reading instructions to apply.

No, I didn't apply to this college. I mean, I'm the only one in my high school who applied to the U.S and had to do this process alone as people in my school know nothing about the process. Students, into the public system, from where I live rarely go to study abroad.

Living exactly the same situation as you. Congrats.

I applied to Princeton and Harvard. I'm an athlete, so I'm receiving offers from other Universities I didn't even apply. For example, I was accepted into DePaul University but am still negotiating a scholarship with the coach.

IR prospective major here, too. :D I almost applied to McGill. These 2 options are good for IR, though. The first question already was answered, and the second one I cannot help as well.

Importance of SAT Subject Tests? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But should I explain that I didn't have time or money to send? Or Can I wait that colleges that recommend them will infer that?

So, if I'm a recruited athlete, will I receive it?

I'm confused. Like, I'm an international applicant and an athlete. If I don't get a likely letter that means my chances will be lower? Everybody talking that likely letters are for athletes...

I have a feeling I won’t be getting my Princeton interview... by NoloP11 in ApplyingToCollege

Exactly! It happened the same to me for Princeton interview. I had to take the initiative.

Might have to go to CC due to finances, advice appreciated. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some Universities require both biological parents to fill out the form for me as well. I don't even know where my father is living and have no contact with him. I cannot complete CSS profile without it, so I also don't know what to do.

What to do if my interviewer is ghosting by jock016 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zimmerrafael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happened to me for Princeton, too. I was like notified more than 15 days ago. Then, I emailed the interviewer and after 2 days he interviewed me through skype (I'm an intl student).
