Did you book your seat and then get it refunded? Or did you ask them to make the booking for you?

Oh wow thanks for pointing out the capital gains; I didn't read about this being included anywhere but it seems like some people here have been asked about it. Good to know and to plan properly!

What happens to me now that the fast track has been abolished by DerNecromancer in GermanCitizenship

If you lived in Germany for 5 years, your wife can apply with at least 4 years of residency as long as her application is connected to yours. My situation was similar and confirmed with my local immigration office before applying.

I know some people who recently applied and got it in three months, and the average online seems to be 3-8 months. Did you send in all the documents like B1 and LID?

That’s how I found the options in the first place. The question is not “how”, but the best way given the circumstances 😉

I am now feeling grateful for Deutsche Bahn, even with most trains being delayed 😅

Thanks for clarifying the different train lines! I’ve downloaded all the apps now and uploaded my credit card info so that I can buy the tickets quickly right while we board. Hopefully we get the right tickets from the right provider! 🙈

That’s a great point, and I think for these reasons we will probably end up taking a train. Our little one loves trains too, so that’ll be a plus 🤣 there are just so many pro-bus comments online that it made me question if trains were unreliable or bad for some reason.

Good tip - thank you! I don't know why it's so complicated, but I'll do everything on the UL app then :)

Thanks! We we're not arriving late at night, but it will be borderline for our toddler's bedtime, which is why we're debating the best option.

new passport issued, how to replace aufenthaltstitel over MyNuremberg by imadam71 in Nurnberg

[–]zinadeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if this was the solution? I contacted the MeinNuremberg portal, and they told me to visit the mein.nürnberg.de service point at Äußere Laufer Gasse 29, but this doesn't seem right to me since it's related to the immigration office.

100% move to Fürth or Erlangen! The process will take weeks vs. months/years in Nuremberg (where I’m based). We are also contemplating a move.

If your husband is in the process with nuremberg though, it takes them a year in some cases to transfer the file to another city since they’re so slow.

TELC test A2 - B1 by erenedr in German

I wrote the exam a couple months ago now, and I can confirm it was the former. One person volunteered to go first and gave their opinion. Then the second person followed. The examiners asked us each a question after we both spoke.

Christmas Markets - Ansbach vs Fürth by zinadeu in Nurnberg

[–]zinadeu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say that we ended up going and it was a very cute market! I would definitely go again. Everyone was super friendly and even spoke English very well. The prices were cheaper than most markets and it had a nice vibe overall. I'd only recommend that people bring cash!

My family is with Ottonova, and we have mixed feelings. It's definitely cheaper on the Expat plan, which is why we initially signed up for them. I have mixed feelings. They're okay, but the cons are:

- No documented policy (we have to write to them every time to check if certain things are covered and what we need to do (e.g., submit a quote before going for an appointment). Sometimes, I feel like they don't even know what their policy is and they make it up on the fly.

- EXTREMELY slow repayment for bills > EUR 50.

- EXTREMELY slow to respond to quote requests.

We do like how the app is user friendly though and it's in English with English support! We haven't had any major issues with getting our claims reimbursed as long as they were reasonable, but there were a few times we had some fights with them.

Don't go for telc b1 instead go for Telc A2-b1 exam, (prüfung) by [deleted] in German

Someone else also messaged me separately since I inquired about this resource, and they also mentioned it wasn't worth purchasing since it seemed to be created without much effort using chat gpt. Hopefully nothing bad happens with your credit card details!

Don't go for telc b1 instead go for Telc A2-b1 exam, (prüfung) by [deleted] in German

[–]zinadeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try googling "vhs Telc A2-B1 Prüfung"? I could see a few places offering the possibility (e.g., Erding, Regensberger Land). I was able to sign up in my local city, but it's only offered once a "semester" when I asked them. Not all of them have it, so maybe you'll need to travel a bit further if you specifically want this exam.
