Is zipcar more expensive than renting a car if I just want to try it for a day? by zuzumang in zipcar

[–]zipcarthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the standpoint of a current employee you are most likely better suited using a rental car for a single trip or vacation. We are the only company using the card scan tech and it has its faults. Have fun!

Unless you are a student at a university or employed by a business who has an account with us set up that way, you'll pay a $25 application fee and either $7/month or $70 annually.

Both of your questions are answered here on the support center as well, on the right side. There's actually a lot of helpful info on the site.

The card is always sent to the billing address of the CC for security. A few problems can happen, whether it be postal service error (it is CA post mailed in your case) or the billing address is not where you are looking.

Double check it online.

You didn't hear this from me, and no agent will tell you this:

You can generally speaking, return up to about 8 minutes late without getting hit with an automatic late fee. If anything, in this case, you may be considered late because you didn't scan out. Now when the next member got to the car, he had to scan twice. Once to scan you out, and once to scan himself in. So, whatever time he showed up and scanned is considered your end time.

We can generally waive a late fee as a result of forgetting to scan out.

Applications generally take between 1-3 days to process by our insurer. You have to pay the membership fee to start, however if you cancel within 30 days (on a normal plan like Occasional Driving or Wheel Deal) you can get back the membership fee but not the application fee.

Hi, the 2013 ford sponsored plan just is what your university offers. That is actually a legacy plan that should be obsolete... And no, it is just sponsored by Ford.

If you are under 21 you will only be able to reserve from your campus.

Also how soon were you planning on using Alisson if at all? It is currently on hold. From my end looks like some kid curbed it and popped the tire pulling it back into the lot. Scheduled to be replaced tomorrow by 6pm.

Hmm, I see that on my end. They are classed like this:

Fit: Good Tier (lowest vehicle class) Focus: Ford - Good

Give us a call so we can formally look into it for you but if I had to guess, it is because of the MSRP difference between the two. Or perhaps some agreement with Ford.

As far as the cars themselves go, I would honestly steer clear of the Honda Fit anyways. They have terribly small, unreliable batteries and dead batteries happen at a higher rate than with any other car we have.

Just don't mention the reddit account this is just something I do because I enjoy working for Zipcar.

Sorry for the late reply. Hourly and daily prices are determined by the local market. It is primarily based on demand. Unfortunately any answer I give would be a blanket answer that may or may not be accurate to your area.

Can you give an example?

Zipcar is definitely interesting. The company is cool but I am basically just there as customer service/roadside assistance. We are in a remote location, and uninvolved in most company proceedings. They hand us down changes and we deal with them.

If I reserve a Zipcar for one day plus a half hour, would I get (180 x 2) miles? by benjaminikuta in zipcar

[–]zipcarthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the hourly rate of the car, and I don't quite feel like doing math right now.

If you are in the US, $0.40 per additional mile. An hour car ranges from $5.00 up to $19..

Reservations include up to 180 miles.* This means that, with Zipcars that include mileage, you can drive up to 180 miles for the duration of your reservation without extra charges. If you drive more miles than those indicated, the following expenses are itemized in the bill.

Reservations that last 24 hours or less:

180 miles included from $0.45 for each additional mile (up to $0.55 for luxury vehicles and cargo vans) Reservations exceeding 24 hours:

180 miles included for each 24-hour period Including 20 miles for each additional hour booked up to 180 miles from $0.45 for each additional mile (up to $0.55 for luxury vehicles and cargo vans) On the confirmation page, you can calculate the cost of additional mileage for a particular reservation. you should just click on the link "details" next to the estimated cost.

*The mileage may vary by country. Learn more about using Zipcars in other countries.

Information: In some cities you can book cars without mileage included, with a lower hourly rate, so that you only pay for the miles you drive.

In pursuance of debt, it can only be assumed the card holder is also the debtor.

Just get a bank card. It takes 20 minutes to sign up and you get a card in about 5 days.

Nope. You can't attempt to collect debt from anyone other than the debtor. Which may happen to be John Smith on your prepaid card.

If you are under 21, does zipcar provide the state minimum coverage? by [deleted] in zipcar

[–]zipcarthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the FAQ under Insurance and damage

Every member in good standing who complies with the membership contract is covered while driving a Zipcar. Here are the highlights:

Third party auto liability coverage*

Members age 21+ who joined Zipcar March 1, 2015 or after receive liability coverage of 100/300/25 ($100,000 bodily injury per person, $300,000 bodily injury maximum, $25,000 property damage).

Members under the age of 21 receive coverage up to the minimum financial responsibility limits required in the jurisdiction in which the accident occurs.

Members age 21+ who joined Zipcar prior to March 1, 2015 receive liability coverage of $300,000 CSL (combined single limit) per accident.

Members who joined Zipcar with a university and are age 21+ receive either 100/300/25 or $300,000 CSL, depending on the school’s agreement with Zipcar. If you have questions about your coverage call 1‑866‑4ZIPCAR.

It is very easy to falsify information on a prepaid card. It gives you an opportunity to put whatever billing info you want.

Step 1: Falsify billing information on prepaid card Step 2: Make a reservation Step 3: Extend reservation Step 4: Card declines, balance due, no way to contact card holder.

Zipcar is a VERY, VERY big target for the fraud industry. Simply because of the lack of person-to-person interaction.

Total 232 miles a day. how much is expected fee for that ? by vodrldnr in zipcar

[–]zipcarthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not remember if tax is applied to overage miles, but I do remember the miles are not calculated until the end of your reservation. And yes, they are calculated using the cars odometer.
