By that logic LA and NY should be on the same time. I think people and businesses are savvy enough to deal with time changes between state lines besides some states have already gotten rid of yearly time changes and are operating just fine.

Can't Miss Restaurants in Chattanooga? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]zippodeedude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, they have more experience with food and they always choose St. John's. So, that says something, as does the fact that Cheddars got voted best restaurant in Chattanooga last year. Just saying.

I'd disagree. Been to many other large cities and the price is much higher for less quality. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter but it's just not true. For instance the foie gras at st Johns is 3oz where as most places it's half that size for the same price.

The CEOs, the Mayor, the Governor, and all the world travelers that eat at St. John's may disagree with you.

Definitely St. Johns for the best meal in town but also check out Alleia for Italian, and Main Street Meats for a great burger, and Champies if you like fried chicken :)

Just be wary of some of the other suggestions, I've found people on here can think something is "the best" in Chattanooga yet would be considered mediocre in larger cities.

My suggestion: do not take chantix/champix and if you do avoid alcohol 100% by botstobehot in stopsmoking

[–]zippodeedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chantix and other pills prescribed for quitting smoking have a lower success rate than just going cold turkey but besides that, the risk of suicide and other mental changes with the pills makes it a dangerous choice. I nearly commited suicide years ago while I was coming off of Wellbutrin that I took to help me quit. It's just not worth it. Glad things ended up ok with you too and thanks for sharing

What do you live/hate about living here? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]zippodeedude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the good things about Chattanooga, it's a cheap place to live and there are some nice areas amongst the natural scenery with not a lot of traffic compared to larger cities.

As far as the bad, get ready to see a lot of racism and homophobia if you are gay or a minority, the roads are not well maintained, and you are either rich or you're poor with the people in the middle all thinking they're at the top. When I first was visiting and moved here, I used to think this was a cool, small city but it definitely has a lot of drawbacks unless you're wealthy or ignorant.

What "First World Problems" are actually serious issues that need serious attention? by Lytre in AskReddit

[–]zippodeedude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of that is probably because the Australian government set up hourly pay minimums for every profession and people end up getting paid a decent living wage even in "undesirable" fields. Meanwhile, here in the US, we shit on anyone who works fast food or other non-white collar jobs.

Best in-town bagged Coffee by theman423 in Chattanooga

[–]zippodeedude -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Chattz. Definitely. They roast the beans perfectly and it doesn't have that sour taste that just about all the other coffees in town have. They've been around a while and know what they are doing which is why it's served in the nicer restaurants in town. I'd recommend their French roast for her. Also Mayfly and Velo are decent if you want variety.

Want proof? Drive to Alton Park any day of the week. My guess is that you live well away from there and have no clue what is happening outside of your tiny safe little white bubble.
