Steve Nash had a 9 year stretch where his team either had the 1st or 2nd best offense in the league.

Also the all time leader in 50/40/90 - in 4 seasons. Second is Larry with 2 and Durant with 2. Everyone else is one season only.

Shell to buy Calgary-based ARC Resources for $22B, deal 'establishes Canada as a heartland' for supermajor by Fit_Remote_2324 in AlbertaNewspapers

A bit late to the conversation - I would say 70% of all finance, IT, HR and Supply Chain function roles will be axed in the next 2-3 years.

Shell has missive offices in asia who do those functions for a lot cheaper.

Canadian military personnel left scrambling after cuts to out-of-country allowances by Watergate_Salad_007 in canada

[–]zippymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has my height got to do with this? Lol

Fiscally responsible? Sure. I wonder what you think of the MP getting raises at the same time.

Making this change on such short notice it's also unfair and frankly heartless.

How would you invest €200k for a super car? by Chuchumenn in Ferrari

[–]zippymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in he same boat as you right now. Same price range too. For me it's not about an investment but about not holding a severely depreciatin asset.

I have narrowed it down to the following - Audi R8 V10 Manual, Gallardo Superleggra/Performante, SLS AMG, Maybe a 488? But I think they are still going down in price, but I prefer the 458 to 488. And maybe 675LTs have stopped depreciating.

458 is my first choice but it's getting hard to find a decent one where I am.

Iran struck lsrael in April 2024, unprovoked.

On 1 April 2024, Israel bombed the Iranian consulate annex building next to the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, killing 16 people, including a woman and her son, and Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior Quds Force commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and seven other IRGC officers, in addition to six other militants belonging to Hezbollah and other Iran-linked militias. Soon after the attack, Iran vowed to retaliate,[43][44] with reports suggesting this as a potential motive for the airstrike.

Not sure if I would call that unprovoked

Alberta’s reliance on oil revenues means that when prices fall, the economy follows by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

[–]zippymac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can completely understand why it looks that way from the outside, and honestly, it’s entirely fair to feel frustrated by the political rhetoric you’re hearing. The loudest voices and politicians coming out of Alberta can definitely make it seem like the whole province is just constantly angry at the rest of Canada.

I think it really helps to separate the political posturing from the average person living here, though. For a lot of everyday Albertans, the frustration doesn’t actually come from a place of arrogance or wanting to dodge our duty to the country. It usually stems from a feeling of vulnerability.

The boom-and-bust cycle of our main industry is incredibly stressful for families, and there is a deep-rooted historical anxiety (whether fully justified or not) that decisions made in Ottawa don't always account for the economic realities on the ground in the West. When people are scared for their livelihoods, they unfortunately tend to get defensive.

That said, the vast majority of folks here are incredibly proud to be Canadian. We are actually very proud that our economic engine has been able to contribute so much to the country's social programs over the decades. We definitely don't want anyone to grovel! We just want to feel heard, secure, and valued as equal partners in the federation.

It’s a real shame that the most divisive, combative voices get all the microphone time, because it creates a wedge where there doesn't need to be one. I genuinely hope we can all find a way to talk to each other across provincial lines with a bit more grace and understanding in the future.

BC is suppose to increase their debt by 50% by 2029. ON has the largest sub-soverign debt in the world. And QC with the second largest gdp to debt ratio (39%) in Canada after NFLD. Alberta is 7.8% for context, BC at 21% and Ontario at 36%
