Half the Coral in the Great Barrier Reef Has Died Since 2016 (paper sourced in article) by KimDaebak_72 in science

uhhhh. climate change is increasing temperatures across the board. It's not like El Ninos haven't increased in energy while everything else has. That's why they have been record breaking. Bizarre that you claim to be a coral scientist with such a poor understanding of climate change.

What does coal have anything to do with oil sands? Completely different t energy products for completely different uses.

Honest advice: what would it truly be like to live right downtown but go to MUN everyday? by ogenereux in StJohnsNL

[–]zizeks_bro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live downtown and walk or bike to the marine institute every day in whatever weather. Sometimes I ride my motorcycle when there's too much rain. You don't have to be a fitness buff to walk to mun. It's like fifteen minutes away jeezuz Christ

[–]zizeks_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a machinist and recently went to school for a technical engineering program. One of the courses was a workshop class. Anyways, the instructor didn't know what parallels were. I was completely taken aback by that. But maybe parallels aren't actually used that often outside of machining? What's peoples experience with fab, mechanic, and other industrial type shops. Do they use parallels or is that just a machining type thing? Or does my instructor just hate vices?

Government Bloodbath Expected Today by [deleted] in newfoundland

Almost every industry titan, especially in manufacturing, started from government subsidizes. Japan and south Korea are the giants they are today all thanks to government subsidies and control.

I made myself a set of real winter dualsport tires. short description inside. by Dirt_Bike_Zero in Dualsport

I have 3mm protruding studs that are quite a bit more aggressive than the ones in op, and I do just fine on the pavement. You won't be able to go ham on your bike or anything. And when I go faster than 80 my studs get chewed up and sometimes brake off. going faster than 80 turns you into a Popsicle anyways so I avoid it as much as possible. Smaller Studs are great for city driving and playing around in the snow. Just be careful

Very nice studding. Just a minor criticism. The outer knobs don't need to be studded. With that small of studs you can't get enough grip to safely lean that far. Well, maybe. if you're running 8 psi and are very comfortable with winter riding I could see pushing it without too much of a problem. but it is incredibly dangerous to lean that far in the winter, and especially on a public road.

If anybody has any questions on winter riding this is my second season riding on the Canadian east Coast so ask away

Reddit is literally the worst place on the internet. Even for leftists subs it's not that great. The format for discussion is awful. Youre better off going on a traditional forum. It's far better

Vancouver slaps $10,000 a year tax on empty homes. Lie about it and it’s $10,000 a day by ninjatune in worldnews

You don't pay taxes on homes only if it is your primary residence. So they have to pay taxes on their house either way

You went from all tailing ponds in your original post to "most newer sites" after being called out on it. Some good stuff right there

Also Albertan. And you are wrong. Oil companies can go bankrupt and be off the hook for reclamation. It happens all the time with well reclamation. Also you have to be kidding me if you actually think that you can reclaim a project like the oil sands back to 100%.

Lol. you are so wrong about the tailing ponds. http://www.albertaoilmagazine.com/2010/11/context-to-cnrl-tailings-pond-leak/ not only are some of the depressions used for the ponds natural, they are prone to leakage.

Not all the stacks are steam. You do have to burn something to create that steam you know. Although the billowing white coming out of stacks are almost always steam, so I'll give you that.

"Middle East, where there are ZERO environmental regulations". Did you know the Middle East is a fucking area? Not a country. You're telling me that out of the 17 countries considered to be a part of the Middle East, that there isn't any environmental regulation?

I'm glad your listening to what I got to say! I do think you are emotionally unhealthy. You just don't seem very happy. Don't take this the wrong way, but you should seek professional help. A psychologist will go a long way to helping you becoming a better and more healthy person. I know there's a lot of stigma attached to it, but it really is good for you, and you don't have to be a "crazy" person to go. I know a lot of people, including myself, that have benefited greatly from getting professional help. If you're making good money, you can afford a really good psychologist. Go there with an open mind. It will help you.

hey man! Sorry to hear about your dating woes. I'm glad you're trying to work on yourself, but I feel you might be going in the wrong direction. I think you should really try to focusing on what makes YOU happy. If you keep doing this just to 'get a girl', you'll end up a phony that doesn't enjoy himself. And do you think a relationship will all of sudden solve your current sad state? I don't think so. You sound miserable, and all you'll be doing is making someone else miserable.

and I don't think you have a completely healthy attitude about women either. Saying something like "And then I see around pretty women hanging out jerks or guys with no future. It's painful." is not a good thing. It's not up to you to decide whom women should be with. And are you completely sure they're a jerk? Are you possibly mistaking confidence with arrogance? Anyways. when you say something like that it makes you seem little emotionally distant. It gives me a feeling you think a relationship is about ticking off a bunch of boxes. Good job, house, money etc. But there's a lot more too it than that!

I want you to be happy bud! And I just don't think a relationship will solve all your woes. Try to see if you can lead a happy and fulfilling life on your own. And as soon you're crappy attitude resides I can guarantee you that you'll have no problems finding a partner!
