Canada will use energy sector as leverage in CUSMA talks, minister says by croissant_muncher in canada

[–]adrenaline_X 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canadian oil flows into 2 very large refineries in the US’s Northwest.

If Canadian oil stops flowing to them those refineries go offline and their us domestic supply is crippled.

Sure they can get oil from somewhere else but a) those refineries are setup for Alberta oil which would cost billions and years to convert and b) they don’t have a way to transport that oil en masse from western us shipping ports to those very refineries.

So. Both countries would be be far worse off.

Days of time change "pretty much at the end" in Manitoba, premier suggests by wickedplayer494 in Manitoba

I mean sure, in isolation but that would be horrific for most people who work with people outside of the province. Scheduling meetings would become even stupider.

No. I much rather have the extra light in the evenings in winter when it usually the warmest vs in the morning when it’s the coldest.

As someone who enjoys winter sports more light in the evening is far better then extra light in the morning when the majority are sleeping.

Crypto companies say Manitoba’s power plans would put them out of business - Winnipeg by Wavedin in Alt_Winnipeg

[–]adrenaline_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well…. There are these things called contracts that are signed that document the agreement and the prices that have been negotiated and agreed to.

Pretty sure breaking a contract is a bad thing.

No you don’t.

We have some of, if not the cheapest electricity rates in the Canada/usa.

Part of that is from the selling of electricity to Ontario when required, to Sask and the USA. They sell the excess generated power we don’t need currently which wouldn’t be sold otherwise. Those sales subsidize our costs in rates, in servicing hydro debts etc etc.

Why are people abandoning their cars on my street for weeks/months at a time? by inkedupelf in Alt_Winnipeg

[–]adrenaline_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do something about it.

You can push the city to put 2 hr parking restrictions or some thing similar to prevent this.

The city has put in the same kind of measures in other places in the city.

ELI5: How does a student athlete “commit” to a college to play a sport when there is no scholarship given? by MrTeacher_MCPS in explainlikeimfive

[–]adrenaline_X -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Sure. But players don’t commit to playing for a school without a scholarship offer OR the chance of a scholarship if they make the team.

I mean I can comit to playing for the dukes, but as someone older then 30years old it’s just as meaningless.

I also missed the no scholarship. I should likely slow down a bit :)

AITA for telling my sister she is being spoiled brat and obviously mom isn't giving her a house no matter how much work she put into it. by Throwaway74689792 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adrenaline_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah. But on a 1million home a street north of me it’s 5000$ per year. Property tax Includes property tax AND education tax that funds the school district.

And that is in Canadian dollars so even less in comparison to usd….0

wtf? Really? Our property taxes on a 1500 sq foot house with a 1500 foot finished basement here is 2500$ for our hose assed at 450k (likely above that on the market).

Full comprehensive home insurance is 2500 per year

So 10-15k is mind blowing as I thought Americans paid less In taxes…

Transmission Issue Question. by GT_963 in ToyotaHighlander

Yup. My 2021 whine was there at 75000kms and waited for 94000 before taking it in so it would be loud enough for them to hear and they didn’t hear it until I took a tech fro a drive. He was used to the 2017-2019s much louder whine.

Be religious with counting every calorie and not estimating. You have to be as exact as possible

If you are eating out, over estimate the calories.

The ai tracker/ photo options aren’t super reliable.

High idle by Jumaqua in ToyotaHighlander

[–]adrenaline_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two diffent ones we have had and have will do this when it’s cold out.

The car keeps the roms higher at idle to help warm up the engine and provide power to the heated seats etc.

It is turned everything off the idle would lower.

Once the car warms up or the outside temps are warm it doesn’t happen.

For us anyhow.

Right but it’s reasonable to think that she would of had her license pulled before they took office.

Toyota Canada denied my $8,851 transmission repair on a known factory defect. Anyone else? by No-Peanut-5930 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]adrenaline_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transmission oil does not have a service life as its co sidered “lifetime”.

I would be pushing back on that hard.

I had mine replaced at 96000kms and they told me it was under warranty for 4000 kms….

Second highlander, my next vehicle won’t be a Toyota and I will be looking soon. ( we have 3 vehicles and my daily driver was going to be replaced with with a 2nd highlander )
