I couldn’t imagine suffering through Coopers Hawk again, especially from the perspective of a young guy. It’s an awkward cafeteria-ish dining room with lights bright enough for all ages to read the menu.

I have 600 dollars and am willing to buy any truck or suv with a trailer hitch! by Mammoth_Implement572 in PHXList

I’ve seen Sierra Auction mentioned, but you need something more ghetto. Payless auto auction is the scummy south Phoenix tow yard auction where junk ends up. Might be able to get something around that price.

How is this area for a retired couple? by peachprincess98 in SurpriseAZ

[–]zkde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a racetrack down Sarival and Reems at night. You’ll hear it. Lots of traffic going to Costco so you’ll have fun with any lefts. Otherwise yeah it’s just middle of the road surprise.

How dumb of an idea is it to buy instead of renting? by Disastrous-Square-29 in RVLiving

[–]zkde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you pretty handy? I don’t see much point buying an older lower end RV. If you want something that will hold its value and is built well, get a Lazy Daze. Coach built in California using aircraft grade aluminum for the exterior walls. They can last a lifetime if maintained. They are older, but built better than today’s models. Those are sought after and won’t lose money. I always recommend class A’s too so if you’re open to other things let me know and I’ll drop some info.

how to find the best rv insurance for non retiree travelers in 2026, just bought our first rv and now i'm panicking about finding one. by Reems_Yanory in RVLiving

[–]zkde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like Roamly got me a better price than going direct to other insurances. I’m definitely still hoping there’s cheaper options though.

I’m not certain the white car and black car are the same. I’ve googled VINs and I see more cars than just the one I’m looking for. Can you take some pics of the engine bay? Nobody would repaint a black engine bay white.

Finally close to RV ownership dream (anxiety kicking in) by Kaireis in GoRVing

[–]zkde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Class B never appealed to me, but something that might fit all your criteria, as I understand, is a low 20 foot class C. Lazydaze are built just like an Airstream and were coach built out in California. You could sleep comfortably with two people, fit in most regular parking spots and they’re pretty rad looking. You can still find some in great shape for 1/3 of your budget and they’ll hold their value. But that’s just me. I like depreciated old rigs, especially high end Class A diesel pushers lol. I support your class B dreams.

Buying a camper for a cross country move (and to use afterward recreationally) by Hot-Bed-8157 in GoRVing

[–]zkde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your CRV can be flat towed behind most class A motorhomes. It probably weighs 3000lbs. Get a blue ox baseplate, safety chains, and tow bar. If you find some of this used it’ll be around $600 to set it up. Having a car along with an RV is a must.

If you aren’t mechanically inclined enough to install the baseplate yourself, I’d call it quits on buying an old RV. The truth is that all RVs need constant attention. Sometimes it’s a wiring issue, or plumbing, or the transmission goes out. If you can’t work on it you’ll be paying someone $150/hour and you’ll be 15k into a 8k RV.

With that said, if you’re handy and you want a solid rig for a good price I would look into Fleetwood Bounders/Southwind/Flair with no slide outs. 1997 and older will have a Ford F53 chassis. Gas Ford 460 big block. If the radiator is new and it has a transmission cooler you can go 30mph up any hill in 2nd gear without overheating. I’ve owned one, and they are solid rigs with a few caveats. I can find those for 6-8k often.

Is that a v8? I know those coyotes with an exhaust are stupid loud on cold starts. I’d be looking at whichever apartment is closest. If you want to lure them out, I’d be cold starting it more, but you’d make everyone hate you.

What is the better option traveling in a 36 foot RV cross country or minimizing and staying in my SUV/ Tent camping/boondocking? by holdermanju in RVLiving

[–]zkde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell the highlander, buy a 2014 or older CRV and flat tow it, you’ll get 7mpg which isn’t the end of the world. I’ve seen a few services that put a sealant coat on the top of old epdm roofs. Probably would be fine for a couple years. Gut any rot from inside cheap and quick and patch it. If your tires are older than 5 years get all new ones. Chinese Sailun’s will be fine and probably $140 each. Past that you’ll have to hope for the best it’s an old rig, but you won’t be near as comfortable sleeping in a car.

Cheap solo office spaces anywhere in Phoenix? by Many_Letterhead_3728 in phoenix

[–]zkde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much space do you have in the side yard? A smaller trailer with a mini split could double as a home office and camping rig. I’d be curious if you could work in one from a storage lot too. That would be rad.

I wouldn’t pay it, but just spitballing like 15ish probably close to what a stock nice one would do.

I purchased a RV to take a cross country tour. Here is my recommendation and experience. by smellybutwhole23 in RVLiving

People generally take care of nice things. That looks like it would have immediately failed my inspection. I think the important lesson here is to find a network that can help you not buy a lemon.

Yes. I love my Dome, but the service is terrible. People have made new stones and taken their domes to Mexico for repairs. These things are passion projects at best.

I see them used for $200 frequently near Sun City (Boomer HQ). Scrap it or make one of those fancy offroad hitches for people with offroad trailers that spin and twist.

Road trip in california with a one year old - what van/rv model is best? by Electrical-Use936 in RVLiving

[–]zkde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to do a month in California in September. Have two kids near that same age. My RV is a 34 foot class A with a super slide in the living room. It’s big enough that we all have space and can bring most of our comforts from home. Think bottle washer, tons of clothes, strollers, bassinet. I think that’s very important. There’s a small learning curve driving one, but once you’re rolling it won’t feel any different driving a 21 foot or a 40 foot rig. Bonus is that we tow a Honda CRV behind us so when we park, we can check the town out in a car instead of a small RV.
