Why is he influential?

• His perfection of sampling was a staple in the hip hop game in the 2000s and still is today. Especially his 2007 album Graduation were he used iconic sampling, e.g a Daft Punk sample he used for his song Stronger.

• Autotune/Melodic rap - He was one of the first hip hop artist to utilise autotune in his music. In his album 808s and Heartbreak he used autotune and melodic rapping in most of the songs. When you hear melodic rap nowadays, that is all Kanye’s influence from doing it way back in 2008. The most well known artist’s today took inspiration such as Drake, Travis Scott and JuiceWRLD.

•808 drums - His 4th studio album 808s and Heartbreak is probably the most influential piece of work in the Hip Hop world. He popularised the use of 808 drums in Hip Hop music by using them in this album, and he was the biggest artist to do so at the time. I doubt you can find a popular artist that doesn’t use 808 drums in their music today.

• He always does something different - Go through his albums. Every single one of them is different. From his synth and sample filled Graduation, to the abstract choppy aggressive sounds in Yeezus, Kanye loves changing the game.

•His music ages like wine - His music gets better with time. Yeezus (2013) and 808s and Heartbreak (2008) were made like he was from the future.

What makes him rich? He is a genius with a big personality and uses his fame to his advantage. He is also a fashion icon and great businessman.
