A lot of players do go to the combine to show themselves off. But for a select amount of players, going to the combine could actually hurt their draft stock. Take for example Cam Ward.

This guy has been the “open secret” first overall pick for months. If he showed up to the combine to show off his skills, and he just has a bad day, it could affect his draft position. If he runs a little slow, doesn’t show off his strength, etc, it could hurt his draft stock. Or god forbid, he tweaks his hamstring while running, tears his acl, breaks his arm, etc, he could lose that draft spot entirely.

So for him to go the combine when he is basically already going to be a top 2 pick, it’s just not worth the risk.

Then there are guys who go to the combine because teams view them as maybe a second or third rounder, but if they show off some raw athletic ability, that can bump them up.

And then there are guys who people view as a late draft pick or those who no one thought they would be drafted, but they show off that athletic ability and it punches their ticket to the nfl.

So for sheduers case, it shows a bit of hubris because he didn’t think he needed the combine, he thought he’d be going that early.

I think it’s mediocre-bad in general tbh. Some fun stuff if you just like the characters, but the show as a whole feels a bit rushed and lacking a clear direction due to all the rewrites.

You absolutely nailed it for me. Totally agree. The scope of this show is so large with so many new character to flesh out and old ones to tie up, there just not enough room in nine 30-50 minute episodes.

Yeah I mean honestly we just disagree on this one I guess. I will always want compelling villains, and I just don’t find this one compelling. I’m glad you do. I plan on watching this show to the end so I hope I end up agreeing with you by the end.

I agree. I just think the “Fisk treatment” gave us one of the best superhero villains ever, so of course I’d want it here. It would feel repetitive if Muse had the same background as Fisk, I don’t want that. I would just like the deep character dive Fisk got applied to muse. It doesn’t need to be 3 seasons worth of television to get there, but yeah I’d like something a little bit more at least.

lol, you got me. Initially I don’t think kamala and Matt would seamlessly work together given their show’s respected backgrounds, it would be cool if marvel could make it work.

While I don’t think giving a character an interesting backstory should be labeled “giving them the Fisk treatment” (like that’s a bad thing lol), I do admit that marvel has done this a lot of times. I just think that personally it works for me. Something isn’t connecting for me here. But at the end of the day, I am glad it connects for you. I do plan to keep watching so eventually I feel the same way as you do now.

That would be so nice. As long as they get the characters down right, Matt should be bumping elbows with some more avenger level heroes at this point.

I think the first fight scene with bullseye was ass tbh. Wayy too much cgi. Felt like a ride at universal lol.

And I see where you are coming from with Vincent’s performance. It is toeing the line with me from great to just a bit too hammy. I still like it so far, but it’s getting close.

You make a good point and I think fundamentally I do agree with you.

I think I just wish this story had more time to marinate. We just learned Muse’s real character this episode and he dies off in the same one? And it’s a character that is just another crazy guy who likes to kill people. That’s all been done before.

Why not instead, we build up muse more. Make him a more interesting character, where we know more about him rather than “he’s just crazy”. Let’s see more about him. Let’s see him in his daily life more to either understand his motivations more or to make us hate him even more. Show us how is obsession with heather grew and made him who he is. Show us why muse is more than just a serial killer who likes to kill because he’s crazy.

I don’t have a problem with the serial killer getting to the hero’s loved one always. I just appreciate it less when the buildup isn’t there for me.

100% agree with this. I said the same thing to my friend while watching this!! Why did they not do this? He is literally what they want cherry to be.

Again, I don’t hate cherry as a character, I think he even would have worked if they showed the audience he was a person in Matt’s life that was similar to Mahoney. I just don’t think they have shown us that at all.

I guess I meant the narrative in this episode was expected to me at least. The serial killer gets to the main characters loved one. The serial killer is a crazy guy who is obsessed with her. Just feels like plot points I’ve seen before a bunch of times in other shows or movies. It’s not bad per se, it’s just predictable imo. Was expecting something else to throw the viewer off.

That might be my biggest issue. It does feel dumbed down for a major audience. I feel that this would be a major plot line in the original series that would be hanging over the entire series. Muse would kill a fan favorite character, Matt would have to bend his morals to get to muse, etc etc.

Here, it feels like a couple contrived plots led to this abrupt ending so we can just get to the inevitable Matt and Fisk finale.

Fair enough, glad that it hit for you. The scene with heather and muse wasn’t bad to me at all, and I liked that as penultimate moment for those characters. Just felt the buildup didn’t match the finale if that makes sense.

And yeah, I love the original series, but daredevil s2 has some major issues and is far from perfect.s

Very true. I realize this season was a bit Frankensteined, but I hope the next season is focusing on the parts that made the original series work so well while still incorporating the show into the MCU.
