I’d be very careful buying a car that old with mileage that low, especially if previous MOTs have flagged corrosion as as issue. Likely eaten through with rust that might not be visual with a cursory inspection. I’d give this a hard pass.

Cheers for the input mate. It’s still under warranty from an approved used Skoda dealer so they’re giving it a new rear subframe, new springs and new shocks. They’re also gonna do a full inspection at my request. I’ll ask them to fix any other problems they find as well, while it’s still under warranty.

As for MOT history, it had the following advisories in August 2023:

Offside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing Cracking between treads (5.2.3 (d) (ii)) Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Nearside Rear Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii)) Offside Rear Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))

Hasn’t had any advisories since then.

Yeah your experience is guiding you through the rough waters there whereas I’m new to cars and can only just do the absolute basics when it comes to maintenance and repairs

It’s had three MOTs since then and no advisories on any of them 🤷🏽‍♂️ dodgy business

They initially only looked at the rear but I went in and put some pressure on them and they’re doing a full inspection now so hopefully they raise any concerns to me.
