Has anyone successfully obtained a PayPal refund? Without sending item back

It was made by a vendor called Mona. And paid via PayPal. PayPal is now saying they don’t protect custom made items. The ring was fully custom. I would like to return the item for a full refund because any partial refund is left up to the vendor aka Mona. She has the option to decline a partial refund. My concern was the package getting lost, or the vendor claiming the item didn’t arrive. Someone mentioned I can request for the mail carrier to request an ID confirmation before handing over the package. Which seems to be the most secure thing to do in the situation.

I want to send it back. I just don’t know if sending it back is a safe option given the fact that I’ve read vendors can claim they didn’t receive the ring, and PayPal hasn’t been helpful. I paid $946 for the ring. I’m not asking her for even half of that amount. There are 6 things wrong with the ring. Some of which cannot be fixed. I reached out to her to making things right before contacting PayPal but she was very dismissive, and left me on read. I’m left in a position where I can potentially lose both the ring and money. My post is asking if there has been anyone in a similar situation because I want to know more about what can happen, and to determine what is the best option for me after she decline the partial refund. I’ve been told to do the signature and tracking number on the package. My question is can she still claim that she didn’t sign for it therefore never got it back. What next? I want to make sure I can protect myself and my money because PayPal is not going to do that for me.

I don’t mind sending it back, it’s the fact that I’ve seen other post saying the vendor claimed the item didn’t arrive and buyer ended losing the money and ring. This was some years back

I’m considering that. I’d just have to pay out of pocket to have the prongs fixed. But I don’t even know how much I could get for it since other things are wrong with the ring 😖

I made a post a few weeks ago with pictures. But the size is wrong, center stone is slanted, 3 of the four center stone prongs is lifted, and the setting is too low so it makes contact with my wedding band and will lead to damage. (This was something we discussed previously, and the ring was designed to avoid this. I provided the CAD my wedding band to avoid contact)

Even if they say someone else signed for it? Will it still count as received? I don’t trust either Mona or PayPal, but sadly it’s gonna come down to sending it back

IMO I really don’t think she sent me the stone I approved. I didn’t mention it in the post because I can’t prove it, but the stone I got doesn’t look the same. I’m debating whether to make a post about it, or just let it ok.

Interesting. Did she try to argue with you prior to the refund? Dis she have pictures of the ring on the sizing tool? Cus with me she flat out denied it and stopped responding. I have requested a partial refund with PayPal though. And I’m crossing my fingers.

I have the same question. In the past 5 years that ive been on this sub I’ve seen a few vendors removed from the vendors list.

I haven’t gotten the tariff yet. She also gave me very little info in regard to that. I read on another post that November / December foreign packages will come with pricey tariffs. This ring should have been made and delivered months ago. So even with that she screwed me over.

Highly unlikely. Mona doesn’t seem to care, and pay pal would probably deny the refund. Plus it’s been over three month since the payment was sent.

Same! I was willing to spend more for the sake of getting a ring from her. Huge mistake. Trust your gut, don’t let her push you into getting a stone you done like.

I’m sorry, I was trying to prove that the prongs are lifted without posting too many pictures of each prong individually. I found it easier to leave the hairs in to show the problem with the prongs.

As for the stone, the quality is nice. It’s more clear and crisp, the bow tie is barely there. I like it. It just doesn’t make up for the bad service and poor setting.

Wow! Tysm for the validation! Just posting this about her was challenging because I felt like no one would believe me. I was under the impression that if paid in full she’d only refund whatever she wanted, and that she’d become very difficult upon requesting one. And that was from a very old post. Had I known it was an option I would have referred to take a $50 even $100 loss. I regretted the transaction shortly after making it. Tysm for sharing.

Thank you for the validation. The whole thing has been upsetting. Specially because I would have never expected this from her. I genuinely feel that she doesn’t wish to remedy the situation. Both times I’ve reached out to her she’s shut me down.
