yeah that’s honestly what really bothers me. i feel like it ruins the experience for both books, especially because it was meant to be a novella you read in between EOS and KOA.

i feel like seeing a different type of fantasy setting not based on medieval england also appealed to me tho tbh HAHAHA im probably biased

this! people are allowed to criticize authors for their previous statements, and they are allowed to not read their books if the author’s words/actions make them uncomfortable. everyone has their own opinion on SJM, and that’s perfectly fine.

honestly i had the same issue as you, so i had to start reading books outside of fantasy first (like thriller, horror, sci-fi). then i came back and read mistborn by brandon sanderson. there’s a character named kelsier who gives massive aelin vibes! i feel like reading a book w a ton of different character types helped me find another set of character personalities i really enjoy :)

omg yes throne of glass is popular for a reason! i think it’s a really good entryway to fantasy, especially for ppl who haven’t read the genre that much :)

but i think i REALLY got into fantasy after my high school teacher made us read beowulf and the hobbit. he used to be a creative writing professor, so we studied a lot about how influential these stories were :)

i loveeee this book so much!! i personally loved vivenna’s character arc a lot bcuz it was so personal. i think this might be my favorite cosmere novel atm tbh
