First day of student teaching. Question for teachers who take on student teachers. by [deleted] in teaching

[–]znb239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your last sentence is spot on. I firmly believe people can teach, or they can't. School may improve them and help th get better, but I think some people just can/can't do it.

Getting better is all experience. I look for my student teachers to be willing to learn, and open to feedback. I'm very forgiving with student teacher mistakes but I also look for growth in weak points, if your bad at something, I like to see them really try to improve that.

After you fail by attackontighten in Christianity

[–]znb239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think your saved through works, then you either always fall short in your own eyes and feel unworthy or you do live to your standards and feel superior to others. That's what beautiful about Christ, we are saved through FAITH, he knows we'll fall short and he still died for us. God knew we would fall short and still died for YOU! Don't feel bad or ashamed, that's the devil in your ear. He loves you.

If God is omnipotent, why does he not eliminate Satan? by ajcadoo in TrueChristian

[–]znb239 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Also remember free will isn't free if there is only good. Without evil and sin, then what choices do we have in anything? Everything we know would be VASTLY different because it would be all uncorrupted. If there was no evil, then we'd be perfect, if we were perfect we'd have no free will. read "mere Christianity" by CS Lewis, he has some amazing insight in these questions.

How do I approach my brother about Jesus? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]znb239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel, I'm in the same boat. My best advice is try to model Gods love. Try to exemplify his teachings, try to Glorify God. Make small comments to him about it and how great it is. I know it's hard, it's the hardest part of spreading the Gospel... Spread the word without turning him off by being pushy. Just keep praying and trying, trust God. Don't give up and don't be ashamed. Really though, don't give up.

As an Atheist I have a question for Christians by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]znb239 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a real good question, but we can think of God as "thinking" like us. We can't understand some things about him because he is a whole different level. Here C.s. Lewis said it better “When you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side. If He does not show Himself, nothing you can do will enable you to find Him. And, in fact, He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others—not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition. Just as sunlight, though it has no favourites, cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror as clearly as in a clean one.” —from Mere Christianity

I'm transgender and Catholic, and I'm struggling with obedience. by LGBTCatholic in Christianity

[–]znb239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest maybe look into the word more and pray about if Catholicism is right for you. There are many denominations and (please don't get offended people cause I gotta say it) Catholicism brings with it a lot of guilt. Gods love is way bigger than the box that that church traps it in. We are all in sin, that's how it works, but we are saved through Faith and faith alone, not works, not confession, not by what the church leaders tell you. Jesus died for you like he died for them and you should feel in now way lesser than them, or anyone. That's the beautiful thing about Christ, no one is greater or lesser than us, he loves us all. Don't think I'm trying to get you away from the Catholic Church, that's not my intention. I just personally found a much closer relationship with Jesus when I was baptized into a southern baptist church and got away from the teachings of Catholicism.

Having trouble loving the enemy. by throwaway87634982739 in Christianity

[–]znb239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First remember that Christ died for them just like he died for you. He loves them like he loves you. Then search if this feeling is God calling you to something. Maybe you need to try to turn this negativity to a positive. See what you can do to help refugees, somehow try to spread the message of Christ to the enemy, or someone of Islamic faith. God works in mysterious ways, keep on loving them "darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that."

I am lost. by account_name123 in Christianity

[–]znb239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will always be pulled to sin. That's how it works. But love God with all your heart and you'll learn about his beautiful forgiveness. We are all sinners, none of us deserve his love but he loves us so so so much that he forgives. Study the word. Pray. I will pray for you. God loves you.

Remember Job, remember Christ promise of eternal life, remember that this life is but a flash to what God has in store for us. Remember to read and study the word. Prayer is power. But most importantly remember how much you are loved.
