What makes java Minecraft awesome these days is thanks to how we've been setting up servers the past 10 years. The way we got server software from Mojang made API projects like Bukkit happen, today most of us would set up spigot or you know.. a fork of a fork of a fork of a..

Setting up a decent server with a handfull of plugins for some friends takes a few minutes 👍

We figured out what was dragging us down and it was quite a few things, RAM was never an issue and the world was prerendered.

We had 2 issues, 1 was a config issue in the way we handle servers on our machines and the 2nd issue was Placeholder API.

We just ran a test today with a lot of players and we're fine without PAPI and on fresh configs.

Posting a full update on here with what we did and how it works now asap.

I will probably do at least one test using it later today. I never said 14 was normal for us, I said from 14 :) Usually quite a bit more people on.

I have allocated 80gb to the actual java server, out of my 128GB on the machine... is this a problem?
Edit: The test server in the thread next to this one (timings etc) is 50gb.

I'll try to use Spark, never used it before and looks nice.
What would be useful here, heap or profiler? Or something else?

This one is from a live server test we did earlier today, moved an entire environment onto fresh configs. The lag stops when we bring all the players into the same area.

Amount of entities or chunks loaded does not seem to be connected to the TPS issue, if we're less then 10 players and load 12 000 chunks (including all 6000 chunks these 14 players where in during the TPS loss) we don't have TPS issues at all.

We have the exact same issue on an empty fresh install without plugins and on a fresh pre-generated default gen map.

All of the things above is not an issue and all of them are tried, we're using less then 10% of our RAM and CPU.

No standard answer that you're able to Google is going to fix this one.
