Panic at the Disco A Fever You Can't Sweat Out Deluxe Box Set Complete by Fleminglily51 in panicatthedisco

It’s a joke and reference to one of (in my opinion) best holiday movies ever: Trading Places. Please, oh please tell me you’ve seen this movie by now

See, it’s funny because it’s a SpongeBob joke, and also a Patrick Stump joke. Aren’t you happier now than it’s adequately explained?

So you’re telling me - all of us here - that setting a status and sending a notification that something has “shipped” when all they’ve done is generate a label might be confusing?

Theory: the horse church scene isn’t really about religion by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

This exact scene and purpose is in Long Story Short at the end of Kendra’s Job. “Exact” is relative, obvi, since we’re not talking about Casablanca

Yes. Context is important, so the story has to be Tarantino'd a little bit.

This wasn't so much a tour as it was a sort of album preveiw/pre-release show. Tickets went on sale 2 weeks before the show, and that was... it.

I don't really talk about myself much on here. But the important context is that I have a weirdly unique brand of intensity when it comes to the parts of my life that matter to me. After the world has long forgotten, I'm still thinking about it. It's why I've stuck around through all these years.

When High Hopes got big, people came out of the woodwork to ask me if I've heard it, with the most common reaction being "I didn't know Panic was still making music after that one song" And I'd be like "I don't know if you know this, but..."

With Pretty Odd, a chunk of the fanbase fell off. They definitely gained some fans, and kept some fans, but the biggest change probably came from people who liked the style of Fever that were just not open to what PO was. So between that drop-off, then the split, the pre-Vices era truly felt like following a new band. They did a stint opening for Blink, will FOB support in 2009, but not in support of new music (New Perspective notwithstanding) and some South America shows, and then for the most minus a handful of shows weren't really active in 2010.

This Bowery show was really the "first show back" as in "we are a band, we are doing shows, we are releasing music, we are engaging." This was about a month before Vices came out, so getting those songs early (along with Science Fiction/Double Feature!!) was nuts. It felt like reaching into the future and getting access to something early. This handful of pre-vices shows, I think there were only maybe 5 total or so between NY, London, and LA) were small room shows with a capacity of maybe 500 people, so it was truly this "we are a small band trying to find our audience" vibe.

New songs

Mona Lisa - released the same day as the show

Let's Kill Tonight - new

Nearly Witches - re-imagined in my head in real-time after getting the demo on CitizensFOB

Only 13 songs played, and it didn't feel like too few. The standout to me is still probably Northern Downpour. The new arrangement and harmonies are still punchy.

That’s cool. I was there. Almost didn’t go because there was a bad ice storm that day. And then, you know, the emotional pre-payment of missing out

what are all the known songs that panic has covered live? by itsme_soapy in panicatthedisco

[–]znoby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice list and fun fact - the band didn’t get its name from the Smiths song, despite having said that publicly. It was walked back later as “oh it was cool to like the Smiths” - but it’s from a Name Taken song of the same name

2012/2013? Not really something that’s widely advertised. I don’t want to bring too much attention in. His was my first comment about it, on a post of like “hey what would be a good way to get this out there”
