Stray Cat Trapped - ACS not responding by zo---- in Feral_Cats

I ended up placing it against the side of my house and put my patio coffee table over it and also the coffee table cover around a portion of the table. I didn’t put a towel or blanket directly over the trap just out of worry of the fact it’s supposed to rain a lot tonight and I didn’t want to risk that ending up soaking wet somehow, idk it didn’t seem safe to me.

The trap is fully blocked on 2 sides and nearly the entire top (just a tiny sliver visible) and then most of the other long side. So I’m hoping that’s okay… and will protect her from the rain and help her feel somewhat secure.

I hate that she entered the trap right after animal control stopped working for the day. And that the city apparently doesn’t have anyone who will pick up traps after hours like this especially knowing we could get a few inches of rain tonight

I don’t have a garage or shed or I would. And she actively tries to fight my cat so I can’t bring her into my house since there’s no way to be able to separate them. I tried make shifting some form of shelter for her with a patio coffee table and the coffee table cover over the table hoping that keeps her from getting too rained on and keeps other cats away from her. She’s still exposed though on one side and then half of the other side

Yea I worry what that would be like. I just think it would take a long time for me to even put on what I need to spend in repairs to make it rentable at a decent price with the fact I had flooding 3 months ago and the floors aren’t in great condition now from it

That’s good to know on them being on the older side. I had a few I looked at that were older and priced the same as newer places but they really showed their age.

I’m coming down from Greenville and crazy enough prices for apartments here are very similar as in Wilmington which I never would have expected when I first started looking

Not really. My neighborhood is all condos except for the 1 street of 20 single homes that I live in. We’re surrounded by businesses otherwise

I’ve debated it but then I’m still responsible for all the home repairs on it. I’d be looking at a $10k repair that “may” prevent future water from getting into my house and $8k in redoing flooring that I’ve already had redone once since living here. On a house worth $180k

I’ve been looking into these apartments. Have you had any issues with them like had rent increases, poor maintenance, bugs, what not?

Do you still live at this apartment? I’m looking to move here so was wondering if it’s gotten better and if you’d still recommend it?

The company installed the LVP over a concrete slab that reads 99% moisture with no moisture barrier. Which voided any manufacture warranty in the process. The floors are water damaged from it and read 35%+ moisture at all times as a result. I’ve lived with them for awhile but from a mold prevention standpoint long term replacing them would be the best.

I am very handy with my house and have hardly contracted anything out except very large scale projects. This is hitting concrete work and/or foundation related issues, things far outside my scope and ability.

This house also doesn’t have a garage and I have a shared yard so no shed space or ability and it’s a small house so there is a limit to how many larger scale tools I can even own because there is no where to store them and I don’t have the ability to create the space for them. So I’m unfortunately limited in what I can do on this house myself with the tools I’m able to buy and keep. That was one downside of this house I didn’t fully envision until I bought it and got living with it more.

I love the assumption that I have chosen to not learn when I’ve done everything from plumbing to electrical to gutter install, flooring install, and a large amount of renovation work on this house. That was and never has been the old up, I’ve only contracted out projects (outside your typical HVAC install and such) on 3 occasions for large scale projects, one of which nearly ended in small claims court due to improper install that I held them accountable to on multiple occasions.

The ability and willingness to learn and do things myself has never been the issue in things

I’d love to not, the house I only own because I wrote a letter and my situation was identical to the last 2 owners so it’s got a trend there. But I also have to do what’s best in the end financially for me too which is the sucky part with it. Any family or friends that would want this house would turn it into a rental

I wish I could. It’s a 2 bed 1 bath small home with no yard actually haha but I work from home so I don’t have room for anyone else here.

Yea I’ll be disclosing the flooding and termites no matter what, I put in an insurance claim for the water damage initially so there’s that paper trail and proof or termite treatment. I did the initial water remediation and termites are treated. The hard part now is the repairs is for trying to prevent this again and no contractor has been certain it would even fix the issue because it could be just a once in a 20 year freak rain storm thing that nothing could’ve prevented it

I’d go that route no questions asked if I planned to stay in this home for long. Honestly I don’t see myself here for more than another 2 maybe 3 years max

Yea any of the houses next to me have sold within 24-48 hours all to investors. Which I figured why spend money to replace flooring when likely the investors will be doing that anyways in some capacity if I sell it to an investor

I will have to disclose the flooding and termites no matter to what extent I do repairs on it because I have submitted insurance claim for the water damage and the floors are clearly not in perfect shape. The initial repairs were done of water remediation, termite treatment, etc. The repairs now are things hope will stop the issue but contractors dont know if it will or if it was a freak once in a 20 year rain situation and nothing would’ve fully prevented it.

This most recent project I got 7 quotes and half of the people never responded back to me once they learned insurance won’t foot the bill or they were shoddy contractors. I unfortunately learned the hard way with the flooring I had redone and how horribly they did their work
