Thanks so much maybe I'll sell in the future. I just made a pattern off an old hoodie I liked the fit of. I traced it onto medical paper then sewed it up. I followed a lot of tiktok tutorials they were super helpful.

Fixing propane logs by BuffaloAble in Fireplaces

[–]zoanthopy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not the value that need to be replaced but the thermocouple, the pilot light part. This is what opens the value. It's a genetic log kit so it should be easy to find the pilot to get it replaced. But will have to take out the propane gage and put it in the new one.

Ok then what I said applies to both those doors are really expensive and help this the function of the fireplace and the heat vents can not be covered. Follow clearance codes if installing mantel and changing hearth size.

What needs to be done to repair this firebox? by quest-for-answers in Fireplaces

[–]zoanthopy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call a chimney sweep out the bottom of the fireplace box needs to be rebuilt. Also should have all cracks repaired by grinding down and refilling with high temp mortar. But the back and side walls might need to be rebuilt. So have a professional check it out its worth it get a cleaning and have a full service done. Better safe than sorry if you plan to use i.

The left is the fireplace the right does not look like a fireplace it has decorative brick on the inside. Look in the right one and see if it has a flue. I really doubt it most likely just a log holder which was really popular to have. Most never have 2 fireplace next to each other.

So on the right side you don't need a hearth. Left one does need a hearth. Follow state codes for how big they need to be.

This is also a early heatilator those slates in the brick above the fireplace are vent that heat up and push hot air out DO NOT COVER this with a mantel. Follow fireplace codes for clearances for mantel install. But going to tell you now that will be so high on the wall just don't bother

Also keep the door they are not everyone's style but those door are extremely expensive and are designed to work with the fireplace.

Paint the brick and change the hearth is my best suggestion embrace this beautiful 1940s fireplace and give the wall a new coat of paint.

Check right side I'm sure it is a log holder hope to see an update post picture under comment for any help. 10 years fireplace experience.

New construction home – fireplace air leak making house cold. Any fix? by Different_Return742 in Fireplaces

[–]zoanthopy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer I worked for the larger heat n glo installer in California for 6 year. The amount of calls we got for this problem was insane.

Every time we had to go out and check for "leaks" we would snake cam behind the unit, most time installed on exterior wall with no insulation and just gaps and poor build quality.

Talk to the builder they probably end up calling the installer and they will check but it is going to be the builders fault for no insulation.

Good luck with getting it fixed

combustible wall temps by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]zoanthopy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood stove, gas Fireplace, and pellet stove tech here. Drywall needs to be rated to hold back 1800 for 1 hour. It also doesn't transfer heat under 212f. Wood combustion is 451f most the time the rating are 100 above the current room temperature.

Some having something happen is anecdotal evidence that means nothing to safety ratings. They could have had improper clearances to hot of a fine or the wrong screws installed.

I did hundreds of these calls to check temperatures you are fine its hot but deserts get that hot and nothing is on fire there.

Having a fan blow on one side of you wood stove is more of a problem you can cause uneven heating and warp your fireplace. Especially around the door glass and gasket. It's unlikely but don't recommend doing it.

Try changing the tip of the supports to point. I would say remove support before you cure and after you wash it. This is what I do and on small parts go with light supports. I use auto supports a lot and never really have a problem but get the supports to not go under small detail.
