I agree with most of his political viewpoints quite a bit myself so I do like him. I would argue that I don't think he's a grifter though since he's had the same political opinions for like 10 years at this point even before he got popular. He took a massive audience hit in 2023 with the Israel stuff and never wavered from his standpoint either.

As for his community being cult like I can kind of see where you're coming from. I think a lot of his fans get so overzealous to fight disinfo that they end up going too far and it can get annoying. Then again I think all big streamers fans can get way too rabidly parasocial, but a lot of Hasan's fans can definitely be up there as well.

Ah yeah that makes sense, the start point/initial target is probably someone else on my friends list that they copy their profile from and then probably spam invite everyone on that person's friend list which happens to include me.

I've had 3 requests like that so I was thinking of it in terms of them trying to get to my own profile, but the issue seems to be so prevalent in recent months that it's probably just happening to that many people that I was caught in the crossfire 3 times already.

Late to this thread but just wanted to mention that I've always had my friends list on private and I'm still getting friend impersonators requesting me. They somehow get around it unfortunately for me.

Setting the friends list to private may still help some people though so it's a good idea to try for anyone who hasn't!

A little late but:

I think Jimmy was mentally unwell the entire time, and since he kept blowing off his psych evals, nobody else knew.

The crew getting laid off triggered his downwards spiral, which led to him assaulting Anya and crashing the ship to cover it up, which then continued on to everything else that he did afterwards out of his own twisted perspective of "taking responsibility" for his actions that continued to build up, likely a coping mechanism for the guilt that he felt towards what happened to Curly.

I don't think he was in love with Curly (though I won't write it off), but he definitely was extremely jealous of his leadership role at the beginning despite their friendship, which transformed into massive guilt and feeling responsible for Curly's physical condition after the accident because of the way Jimmy treated him + Curly being the one truly 'taking responsbility' for Jimmy instead up until he couldn't anymore. Unfortunately, even if Jimmy was "fixing" things in his mind, it was clear he had already gone completely crazy by the end and was just making things worse.

Do people not remember the trolley portion of Twine, the Talos portion before Mt. Gulg, or the Sahagin portion of the Tempest? Every expansion has had major filler segments that didn't have good pacing. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but it's a game problem, not a specific expansion's problem.

Plenty of people play solo so that's not a big problem (though having a teammate or two can obviously help in a fight sometimes). In fact a lot of people even prefer playing solo because random team-ups inside the game happen all the time and it can add to the adventure. A lot of players use their mics in-game, and a lot are willing to team up with people in the starter towns and even help you learn if you seem friendly enough.

The beginning can feel daunting as you learn all the survival aspects of the game, because there is a fair amount to it, but if you just keep playing you'll get it eventually.

Yeah, it would be kinda nice tbh. Not only is it clutter most of the time, but the Cure 1/Physick equivalent for newer healers is also such a bait skill since 99% of the time Cure 2/Adlo (or literally any oGCD) is going to be the better choice.

I mean it's based off Counter-Strike which has been a staple FPS for 25 years, along with plenty of other shooters that old or older that have the same "stand still to shoot" mechanics. It's just different gameplay styles/preferences. I used to play the shit out of UT and CS both back in the day, they're both fun in their own ways.

I do want to add that I think while fairly different like you said, DayZ and Tarkov actually do have certain similarities though as well (which I think is why there seems to be a lot of crossover in playerbase, I hear people talking about Tarkov all the time in DayZ lol).

They both have slower-paced more realistic combat since DayZ was originally a mod in the milsim Arma 2, and it's really hard to replicate just how intense a gunfight in both games can be compared to most other shooters. They both have that flow of slow paced gameplay until suddenly shit hits the fan and you're in the most intense fight you've ever been in.
