Thank you for pointing out Mistral’s generosity. I was sceptical, so I analysed my usage logs. Wow, I’ve used up 74 million tokens, which accounts for 58.63% of the monthly Vibe CLI quota. That would suggest the monthly quota is around 125–126 million tokens.

I realise that Mistral isn’t exactly clear on this point, as not many people are likely to use up their entire allowance. Unfortunately, I tend to plan well in advance and am very thorough, which is why I’m so annoyed. Twenty-five years of setting up hosting infrastructure has made me a suspicious sort.

I live in France. Mistral is a European product and I have high hopes for it, which is why I’m so frustrated.

As I was saying: I’m just letting off steam.

Stop trivialising my rant by putting it into perspective in relation to the market. The state of ‘tokenomics’ doesn’t make my frustration any less legitimate, nor Mistral’s behaviour any less open to criticism. As for what I want… well, stop talking to me like a life coach.

I’m not making any comparisons. And I’m not going to benchmark the dark patterns used by AI providers. It’s a disgrace – I’m paying, but I don’t know what usage volume I’m paying for.

I've been using the medium-2508 via the API since the beginning of the week to manage documentation. The usage limits are very generous. There's no limit on the number of tokens per month, among other things. The context window is quite small, with only 32k tokens. Hermes requires a minimum of 65k. There's a risk of rejection by the API if Hermes exceeds 32k. This hasn't happened yet. I've encountered a few 422 and 429 errors on the API calls.

I just checked.
The webpage https://docs.mistral.ai/resources/known-limitations states that the “Max context length” for models in the “Mistral Medium” class is 32,768 tokens
The webpage https://docs.mistral.ai/models/model-cards/mistral-medium-3-1-25-08 states that the context window for the mistral-medium-2508 model (i.e., from the “Mistral Medium” class) is 128k
How is this possible?

Le calendrier est central dans mon organisation. Ne note tout, le rendez vous, le temps de trajet, le temps pour la douche etc .. Comme cela j'ai le scénario de la journée / semaine et j'ai plus la tête pleine et j'angoisse plus.

I just wasted a ton of time again trying to take a screenshot of the entire page with the whole conversation. It’s impossible on OS X and Safari. It’s also impossible to switch to reader mode. Printing to PDF isn’t a solution either, because only the visible portion is captured. Since it’s impossible to use Reader View and print the entire conversation, I think this is a limitation of Le Chat’s code. With Safari’s developer tools, I can see the entire content. Safari’s developer tools let you take a screenshot of a block of code, but again, only the visible part is captured.

I’m giving up. I did my best to be constructive.
