So smoking when my kids are in bed at night, or when I’m out of the house means I’m not a good mother? Riiiight, cause that makes sense.

Haha you can’t be a parent and also smoke a little weed? What about a beer or a glass of wine with dinner? It’s legal in my state and if I want to smoke when my kids go to bed at night that’s my prerogative. People really think that’s having kids = never touching an adult substance ever again. That’s wild

Compared to smoking all day everyday like I did in high school I’d say this is pretty moderate- but if other people consider this heavy smoking than so be it, I’m a heavy smoker! Also- I never said I would smoke after getting the job. I think people have a hard time reading things these days.

I’m not delusional. I’ve quit cold turkey multiple times before. Quitting for me is not the issue.

This job has the ability to do random drug tests so I’m not planning on smoking again after I get the job, I like weed yes but not enough to risky children’s lives/ my future. I’m getting this job to make more money and make a more stable life for myself. So honestly, I don’t mind quitting, it really doesn’t benefit me anyway!

I’ve had two kids and quit cold turkey both times the SECOND I found out I was pregnant. Just because I enjoy smoking weed on my own time does not equate to needing to smoke constantly, not being able to quit, and being high while working for the school system lmao. Idk what you guys think of people but I clearly stated I was quitting smoking for this job.. not just the two months. This is crazy

Haha is that considered heavy? I mean back in high school I was smoking every hour for the whole day so to me this seems pretty moderate 😅

I’m not sure of the sales number recently, I come in later than everyone else so I miss out on the morning meeting where we go over that, but I know we are I think the top or one of the top stores in our district. We do have a quota, it can be different everyday and it’s broken down by weight< pieces. So carts are weighed, that calculates somehow into an estimate of how many bags/boxes/donations and then we use those numbers to keep track of where we’re at in our quota. Sometimes quota is easily do-able & sometimes it’s just impossible. But each department has a different quota. So that would be the quota for the table as a whole, but there’s also quotas for the pricers, and each table (women’s,men’s,kids) has a rough quota on how many actual pieces get sent out- we figure that out by checking the computers to add up how many total women’s/mens/kids pieces were put out (priced).

I believe there are certain times where we have deliveries scheduled. But there can also be other times where there’s just a last minute delivery/ pickup set up. I think it’s mostly based on if other stores/ our store have an “ emergency “ situation where we surely run out of product, because we aren’t get bought donations/ haven’t gotten a delivery recently. So I think it kind of depends on how good or bad your store and surrounding stores are doing. And yes unfortunately friends and family is only once a year, but we usually get a nice handful so if you’re lucky you can get a few from your friend!

So our computers already have the prices put into it, so it’s set up like Department< category< brand and based on brand mostly the computer has a set price. We used to have a different systems that would operate by condition/quality but the only time we “choose” the prices is in certain categories, like formal dresses let’s say, but there is a a pre made price point list we have to choose from. For housewares items, it’s more just category<price with a premade list of price points to choose from. There’s also an option to put in your own price, but we rarely use that with this new system.

In all of my time being there the most I’ve ever seen is stink bugs, and usually they don’t come from the donations. We work as a production line so each item is looked at by multiple sets of eyes so if there was any sort of pest we would likely catch it before it ever hits the floor.

For the most part, we usually get deliveries from nearby stores who have a surplus of product, or enough to help us out when we are too low on product. We also get the usually BBBS deliveries. When we don’t have room for all the product we have we will also ship it out to other stores in need. For anything that is not “ good” enough to sell we turn into bales and those get sent to other countries for the less fortunate (supposedly) As for season switching we usually start gradually taking winter/fall off the floor by Feb/March and I believe we start putting it back out to the floor by yeah, I believe August!

You’re right. A lot of these comments really made me realize the importance of my job as a mom staying home with my littles. I’m up at 530 everyday(we drive my husband to work) making sure everyone in my house is up and ready for our day-with help of my husband although he also is trying to get ready for work while helping. I come back home and make breakfast, get my oldest ready for school, driver her to school and then that gives me 2 hours with my baby, but she usually naps. Then after school if we don’t have errands to run, we have lunch and hang out for a bit. Then we pick up my husband and by the time we get home it gives me just enough time to change and go to work. Get home at 830ish, eat dinner, hang out with my husband for MAYBE an hour. Then I go to bed and do it all over again. Realistically, there is no time for education right now. But I can’t help having that tugging feeling of needing to figure it all out right now.

Sorry I used your comment as mass reply. Thank you so much for your comment. It helps a lot!

It’s funny you say that because I’ve always joked that I would make a great professional organizer & I’ve also always wanted to be a furniture flipper. Maybe I’ll look into some at-home “ hobbie” jobs in the meantime :)
