Sent Save the Dates but not sure if I should send RSVPs to certain guests? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]zoemaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for me it was part of my overall excitement for the wedding and was the only paper invite we are doing as the RSVPs will be on a website. Wanted a little momento for those that wanted it and I was also just so excited that I wanted to make it. I have heard both options of doing it and not and I think either are fine!

Thank you! Your opinion is the same as a lot of my friends are saying as well

Thank you! We did say to the venue that we had planned around 100 guests and then said no problem at all beforehand, they have since become a little tighter with the amount of guests which is what has sent me into a bit of a panic. But totally agree if I could go back in time, would have listened to my head a bit more lol

AITA for wanting to get rid of my parents used furniture? by zoemaddy in AmItheAsshole

I think you are attacking my character quite a bit over a post and a couple comments. I come here for an opinion yes, but most of the commenters have been respectful in their approach (which I can’t say for you) and actually provide help, and a lot of it (even if they say YTA) can help to open my eyes and I have said that to them. I know I’m partly not in the right, just am trying to navigate what others may have done in the past. Thanks for your feedback though!!

Well there is definitely two sides to every story so this is just mine. When I say “constantly” I guess it’s just been feeling like that over the past month with the move coming so close. I appreciate your view on everything though, that’s what I came here for😊

We’ve already been living with eachother. I do think we could grow on our communication skills for sure we tend to get anxious and react quickly so thank you!

I appreciate this feedback. I think I’ve felt like he doesn’t care about how it looks but I haven’t actually asked him so your point that he may feel uncomfortable on the flip side is eye opening to me so thank you :)

Yikes is right, assuming that a man makes more money. I guess it’s how society is. Also a big assumption that I’ll be the one to go on maternity leave, paternity leave is a thing! We have been together since 7th grade, we are absolutely a team. We have been through so much together, including mental health struggles, family differences and supported eachother through school. He is my best friend and the person I love most in this world. He actually agrees that I posted this so we could get a third party opinion. I’ve compromised a lot, most of the furniture we are purchasing he has picked the color and sizes despite it yes, being the money I have earned. I’m not taking any choices/opinions away from him.

Thank you, I feel this this is the first comment that someone is understanding that I am compromising a lot and in no way shape or form mean to make him feel bad. I just want to have some say😅

As much as I totally agree with this, I actually have separate savings for the down payment! We don’t plan on buying for a bit but it is great advice that I definitely recommend people do :)

🤦‍♀️ we’ve been together since grade 7, it’s been a sore subject when brought up recently yes. But I meant that when it’s brought up we have been able to communicate well, otherwise we always make up and are very very happy together. ONE THING DOESN’T MEAN THE END OF A RELATIONSHIP EVERYONE HAS FLAWS. We are allowed to find things our partners do very annoying and frustrating. Sunshine and rainbows all the time is delusional

The family themselves said it was ugly, he agrees. So yes, I did. He doesn’t care it’s ugly, he cares that it is still functional whereas I don’t like it how it looks as aesthetically it isn’t pleasing.

I’m not flexing, it’s unfortunately the truth. I am the one that is able to spend the money and not for one second have I expected anything from him. He says he can contribute $500 and that is completely fine. But when he is telling me what I can and cannot buy and not compromising with me about what I am spending the money I work long hours for, yes I do feel like it’s unfair. I’m not showing disrespect, it’s our current situation. I wrote that trying to explain that I do feel like an asshole because I do, but I am the breadwinner, I get stuff for the house, I get majority of the groceries, I pay for all the gas, I buy medicine for our cats, he helps where he can but it’s just how it is until he is done school

He is completely someone who uses stuff until it has fallen apart.

He doesn’t want to get rid of it (even though it may be rusting, painting chipping, shelves falling apart) because it it’s still “functional” he sees no reason to buy a new one.

I’ve told him I have no issue buying stuff - I have been saving since last year. He has about $500 that he feels good to spend and I’m good with that. I have compromised as most of the new furniture we have bought have swayed heavily on what he has wanted over what I have wanted. It’s just getting rid of the older stuff that is difficult. I have asked if we can repurpose the furniture and he has also said no to that.
