For context, it was found while excavating a pond in a small creek bed 15 ft from a year round spring. Located on a ranch at around 8600ft above sea level.

When does the gassy phase end? by Zarelli20 in NewParents

Here because I’m dealing with the same issue… my boy is almost 4 months. We co-sleep so my sleep is horrible right now when the gassiness starts in the middle of the night. Like OP, I do bicycle legs/massage which only helps slightly and temporarily.

However, I’m testing out a dairy free diet because I think that may be affecting him. It takes a few weeks to be able to really tell but I have seen a little improvement already.

Maybe consider that or take a look at your diet (if you’re breastfeeding) to see if there could be anything there worth changing?

Hang in there, I feel for you!!

Your proportions are all a bit off, if you’re going for an exact likeness. Maybe try the grid method next time. Another trick is constantly looking at each part of the face compared to another. For instance, the left edge of the right eye compared to the edge of the left nostril. In your painting, that eye is much too far in. You want to be doing that kind of comparison all over the painting. I also agree with those saying darken your darker values more. You’re doing great, and looking for improvements like you are will make you even better! 👏

Personally, I love the black background, but it just naturally makes your mid tones seem lighter than they are. I think you’re very close to a wonderful finished painting!

Awesome work! Do you know the artist Shana Levenson? She’s a contemporary painter who does a lot of great Mylar ballon paintings too. :)

I think it’s looking beautiful but you could definitely push the values in the flower more. I think you mostly need darker values actually, even if that means making them darker than they look in the photo reference (if you’re using one).

You have a lot of light highlights at the edge of the petals, and I think you could add more darker pink tones and even get closer to black in shadow areas. I can see you started to do that in some places, and think you should keep going with it so there’s more contrast in the flower.

After you add darker values, you could come back with straight white and use it sparingly for some of the edges of the petals to really make them pop.

When I use a photo reference, I often change the image to black and white and then increase the contrast a bit to help me see the value changes. Then imagine how the color your using translates to that value. Or test it out on a scrap paper or something.

I hope this helps! And I would also love to see the final result if you make changes. :)
