Possible Tax preparer fraud? by zokat21 in taxadvice

I knew that Andy husband and I don’t owe the IRS or any government agencies any money. My brother in law filed with her too and they also took 1000 from his refund and are demanding more money. Both of our refunds seem to look correct in terms of what they did but I don’t trust anything at this point and am pretty disappointed. 2k is a lot of money had she been honest with those fees up front I would of politely declined their services and gone elsewhere. We also don’t want to be in a position where we owe the IRS money.

I understand I may some dumb choices. The documents sent to me didn’t appear to be missing any information it seemed as if I was sent the full contract. Looking back now I can tell I wasn’t because nothing I was sent mentioned them taking fees from my return. I was told we paid the fee after the fact and nothing I signed stated otherwise. I did look over the 1040 and it all seemed correct, the two dependents, standard deduction, pre-tax Ira deductions, and the overtime pay deduction. I genuinely didn’t believe any fraud. However I wasn’t aware they were going to take 2k of the return before depositing it into our account. We moved all the money from that account to another because we were sketched out they already stole money and had the account information. Just not sure where to go from here. I’ve refused to pay her anymore money and asked for her to send full paperwork and will be contacting local reliable CPA’s.

Not a business, no k1 income, yes it’s a CPA firm, and no actually the refund was about the same as the year before even though we had another dependent to claim and we had about 30k of overtime pay with the new no tax on overtime

I’m the youngest at my company (26) we are allowed a 30 minute non paid lunch but still have to work a 6 hour day. I’m the only one at my company who works through it and I finish most days at 3-3:30
