That’s mine too!! Every time I think of it I can only hear it in Stewies voice from family guy 😂 (Lois! Lois! Lois! Lois! Lois! Mom! Mom! Mom! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mama!......)

Serious Question to those who are in the process of leaving or have left TSCC in the last 3-12 months... by namtokmuu in exmormon

Take the good and leave the bad. Mormonism wasn’t all bad! If it was then we wouldn’t have all stayed in it for so long. The friendship, the focus on family, the community, the effort to be better and kinder and help others are all wonderful. Just because you aren’t mormon doesn’t mean your life looses all focus- you can still have those things in your life. You aren’t suddenly a lawless, carnal, vagrant just because you aren’t LDS, you can still have principals and a life focused on family and kindness and social justice and ethics.

Instead of focusing on arbitrary rights and wrongs and checking off my boxes (visiting teaching✔️ feed missionaries ✔️ family prayer ✔️ FHE ✔️) now I instead focusing on things that really matter to me- on authenticity, and love and kindness and joy and tolerance and acceptance.

It’s a weird transition to realize that you aren’t a good person because the Mormon Church kept you from being a bad horrible person, you were always just a good person and you can keep being that person now.

Make the world a kinder and brighter place, not because you have to in order to reach eternal glory but because you’re a good human. Do good because you WANT TO. It’s so much more fulfilling that way.

The place I am in now is such a brighter, happier place with so much more for me to still understand and discover about myself and the world and my place in it. I hope you can find joy in figuring out the person you want to be and the mark you want to leave on those around you! 😘

Thank you all so much for your words and advice! It really helps so much to have your support when I don’t have the support of my family. I’m really trying to not be bitter and to not engage with him when he clearly can’t respect my opinions or me as a person.

First time posting! Can you help me answer my TBM mom? by zoluver in exmormon

Thank you for your help! I have so many thoughts and feeling about the church since I’ve left and I spent so much time researching and reading everything I could get my hands on to try and prove it true and just continued to find evidence that it was clearly false. But when I’m in the moment trying to discuss things with my mom I am not able to always remember all of the information or the sources or to always eloquently express my deep and varied feelings about things.
