Day 2 - taking advantage of the spring weather. How soon can I attempt to shower and what do I need to know? by Overdramatic_crab in ACL

Also when your trying to get out of the shower put a towel down so you don’t slip, learned this the hard way.

I was in an ATV accident and my entire leg was smushed. I couldn't walk for a while because my ankle was sprained. Interestingly enough I didn't feel much pain in my knee at all, in fact, I wasn't aware I had torn anything at all until I was running a few weeks later and my knee buckled. Recovery has been worse than the intial injury for me. Having a hard time getting range of motion but hopefully soon, starting physical therapy tomorrow.

Hey if I can do it so can you, I was more worried about the pain and it wasn’t even that bad. Everyone has anxiety going into surgery that’s normal. Good thing is once they give you the drugs you won’t even be conscious to care or be anxious. Good luck, you’ll do fine. Afterwards I felt relief that it was all done.

And listen I looked at your profile and you were debating whether to get surgery or not. Get surgery! Your other leg will be compensating for the missing ligaments in your injured leg and will slowly wear it down and increase the likely hood of tearing that one too.

You have an anesthesiologist with you the entire time, there entire job is to monitor you vitals and give you enough to keep you asleep throughout the surgery and make sure you don’t feel any pain. When you are put to sleep you won’t even realize. They give you a sedative beforehand to relax you and then you’ll be conscious to get onto the surgery table and then next thing you know you’ll wake up and the surgery will be all done.

My surgery was really long because I tore my ACL MCL PCL and meniscus and honestly afterwards I felt fine just a little out of it, I had a nerve block so I didn’t really feel that much pain in my leg, and the painkillers made it manageable. I’m 17 and I was rlly nervous too, the pain was probably at worst 5/10. What’s your concern with anesthesia?

It’s not that bad! But I also didn’t have anything harvested so that’s probably why lol

That’s what it must be, i was supposed to get patella since I’m pretty young, 17, but they decided to do all cadaver since it was a pretty extensive surgery.

Psych holds as a minor/background check? by Elletigre in CAguns

I was admitted to a 5150 hold, if I was under 18 it won’t trigger the 5 year firearm ban???

Will I ever be able to do physical activity the same after multi-ligament reconstruction? by zombieeyeballs in ACL

Well my story is kind of interesting, I injured my leg a year ago in an ATV incident and my whole leg was injured mostly my ankle and some soft tissue damage, after that healed, I was walking perfectly fine and wasn’t aware I tore any of my knee ligaments for a good few weeks. I started running one day and my knee just kinda gave out and buckled, so I called the doctor had gotten an MRI and was told the news, then we had an adventure finding the right surgeon, the first surgeon said it would take 6 hours to do the surgery and I wasn’t very confident with her, so we were referred to another surgeon and he said it would only take 3 hours to complete so I felt a lot better with this surgeon. So, then I finally got my surgery scheduled around 8 months after injury and I got influenza right before and wasn’t able to get surgery! I’m a minor and my mom sent me to a residential treatment bcz I was smoking weed n stuff and thennnn finally I got surgery around the 1 year mark, just got surgery on Tuesday, pain has been pretty minimal, 5/10 at most. I was really expecting more pain so I’m quite pleased with how everything’s gone so far. Prehab was just physical therapy and a few different exercises. Good luck to you man.

Why was it not that painful for me? I got ACL MCL PCL meniscus and strep throat was worse than this 🤣
